In "Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep", which is my favourite DLC ever, there are dwarves that cry out "Losing is funnnn!" when you kill them. This might be a DF reference. Just a hunch, of course. ;)

It also features the first in-person appearance of one of the most important characters from the main game. She's beautiful.

There's at least one more DF reference in the game; one of the unlockable heads for Salvador is called "Boatmurderer" and looks like this.

I'm so getting Tiny Tina's assault on Dragon Keep when the Steam summer sale starts. Poor wallet, it has no idea what's coming...

You both make good points. I honestly didn't know that the café was a building you built in the town. Unfortunately, my villagers suggest very few things, and when they do, they suggest crap stuff. My first suggestion was a yield sign, courtesy of Derwin.

Yeah they're there for me too. it seems like a new 'season' started with the beginning of July.

In other news, I want to build the campsite, but being the indecisive person I am I'm having all sorts of doubts over where to put it, since it's permanent and all. I've mostly made up my mind about where to put it, but I'll ask for some input regardless.

Here is my town map. I've been thinking of putting the campsite inside the part where the river forms an upside-down U, just below, and to the left of, the diagonal bridge. What do you think? Any other suggestions?

Ah, Clock Town. Majora's Mask is truly an amazing game. My favourite Zelda game as well.

In other news, I just got the second floor of the museum today. Immidiately bought a silver shovel an put up all those gyroids for display that have been cluttering up my storage. Score!

Just out of curiosity, and some will to spark discussion in this thread, I guess: What did everyone name their town and why?

Mine's Eltanin, named after (one of the names of) the brightest star in my favourite constellation.

GUns never start loaded. Except for LAWs but those start packed.

When I read that, I realised that it would actually be cool to be able to find loaded guns (partially or fully) on dead soldiers and the like. That, along with some bullet casings strewn on the ground would make the dead soldiers somewhat more immersive.

Maybe it's very difficult to have them spawn that way, I have no idea, it was just a random thought that crossed my mind.

Aircraft are always very difficult to balance. Currently, they're very good in small fights, where there's ~<15 players in a base from any faction. Any more than that, however, and you'll always have one or two people as burster MAXes or heavies with lock on launchers. As Jelle said, you hit a critical mass of AA lock-ons and you completely wipe any aircraft in the air off the map. Currently, that critical mass is 3 HA's (or 2 if you're TR with the striker). This means that in any bigger fight aircraft are almost completely useless because they have to retreat as soon as they get locked on since there's no way of knowing how many people are locking onto you on the ground. In big fights getting locked onto happens more or less as soon as someone with an AA launcher sees you, and there are usually a lot of people with them around, especially when they're TR.

Aircraft are very frustrating to play right now, since your tactics have to be swoop in, hope the enemy renders early enough for you to actually line one of them up, fire and get out of there, hoping that you can get behind something before the enemy gets lock-on missiles off. If they do, you're generally dead since there will almost always be more than enough to kill you and they now intelligently go around mountains. If you're not dead, repeat when flares have recharged. That time is usually long enough that the guy you just killed have respawned three or four times already, though, so you actually have very little impact on any given battle.

The Liberator in particular is in a bad spot right now since it cannot flee with nearly the same speed as an ESF. It's in a rather annoying catch 22 situation where it's supposed to be a ground-to-air bomber, but if you're flying high you don't actually render your targets and thus cannot damage them. If you're flying low, you're instead such a large and slow target that tanks and dumbfire launchers reliably hit you, and two or three of those will kill you. In short, flying a lib is an exercise in frustration and I wouldn't recommend it.

Sorry for the lengthy and slightly ranty post, but as a pilot that's been constantly nerfed since release and having seen AA get constant buffs since release (except last patch where bursters were toned down slightly at range, Skyguard got buffed though), it's kind of annoying.

Shields are very inconsistent in what you can do through them. Vehicle shields (ones with a tank in a shield) can't be shot or driven through, but can be walked through. Amp station bay shield can be passed by the owners of the facility, but not defenders. Neither can shoot through them. Spawn shields can be shot through by the defenders, unless they're tower spawn shields. SCU shields (the yellow ones) can be shot through and walked through by the defender. Not sure about vehicles, it very rarely comes up as an issue.

I think that's all the shields.

Regarding being shot through shields as the defender, I think there's a bug or unintended feature where splash damage propagates through a player that's halfway through the shield. I.e. if a player that is halfway outside is shot by a HE shell, the splash damage will affect the people just inside the shield as well. Spawn shields now also go down when the SCU does in facilities since last patch, apparently. If you're getting shot in some other scenario, then I have no idea. Maybe some sort of exploit.

Vehicle NV is now non-highlighting, just plain green. Also has horrible contrast in most places.

Dear gods this is getting ridiculous...

I'm trying to get a specific villager to move in by making a new character and checking the sign on the fenced in area. The game always gives me uchi villagers and I'm trying to get Phoebe. I've now been creating new characters and resetting for over four hours. Seen her once, when she plopped down her house just beside mine, right on my newly grown perfect cherry tree.

Just randomize correctly, damn game!

So, I got this and I'm having a lot of fun unlocking stuff, even though it starts off a bit slow.

Does anyone know of a reliable way of getting villagers to leave?  have this crocodile guy, Sly, who's just generally annoying. I've been mostly ignoring him and occasionally pushing him around. Can you do anything more to encourage them to leave?

Also shot you a PM regarding friend codes, notemplar. If anyone else wants to trade friend codes just do the same, send me a PM.

Clauncher being a pistol shrimp is officially awesome.

Krelp is also based on something totally awesome. Anyone up for a bet that its evo is something along the lines of the Weedy Seadragon's slightly more pimped out relative, the Leafy Seadragon?

I think it'd be cool if they had some sort of system that detects when you're violating traffic rules. Things like speeding and running red lights would make the police come after you. It always feels weird being able to blow past a police car in GTA (or whatever free-world game) at a red light and they'll just ignore you as long as you don't hit their car.

So, as someone who got a 3DS for Fire Emblem, and have never played an Animal Crossing game, how does it play? What's the idea behind the game?

I would really like to extend my 3DS library beyond one game and the only thing I've really been looking at is Monster Hunter.

Speaking of stuff on the ground disappearing, meat and corpses lying around should really disappear. All those hordes of coyotes, wolves, cougars and bears would strip any accessible corpse to nothing in less than a night. Not to mention all the giant mutated spiders.

Rotten food should also be reduced to nothing after a week or two.
I can see meat and corpses, but I'm not too sure about the zombie corpses. There might be something about the tainted flesh that they don't like that stops them from eating them.

You do certainly have a point about rotten meat there though.

Yeah, zombies should stay around. It'd be cool if zombies that had begun to rot before reviving would be slower and more fragile once revived and would leave a rotten corpse when killed, though. That way you could kill them over and over until they stay dead long enough to rot away.
