Double SC?  Looks like they're going to get some more of my money.

This. So many things to buy...

Living in wormholes:

Pros
  • Great ISK (50-150 MISK per day, depending on sites spawned.)
  • Fun, independent gameplay

Cons
  • POS logistics (144000 m3 of fuel per 30 days to fuel one large POS)
  • Everything else logistics (need to get ammo and any other consumables in on a regular basis, most ISK income is in the form of loot that needs to be hauled to empire)

Things that can be both
  • No local
  • completely lawless space
  • No permanent routes of travel anywhere

The biggest annoyance with W-space is easily the logistics. C3 and above wormholes never have static high-sec WH's which forces all fuel hauling to go through low-sec, unless you get lucky with a high-sec hole. Second annoyance is living out of a POS, or several. POSes are inherently insecure and cramped, the hangar functions like a limited-volume corp-hangar and the ship maintenance array is just a big storage for ships, with no way to specify what ships belong to who (except for an honour system).

It works pretty well for a small group of people (I'd say below ten, if they are coordinating outside of the game), but you are pretty vulnerable to larger corps coming in and throwing you out.

You haven't experienced annoyance in Eve until you've been sitting in a WH, only getting Solitude/null/W-space WH's for a week straight, while your loot piles up and your fuel runs out.

So, after playing this for ~2 hours last night (got to the part where you see Elizabeth the first time), I'll record my story predictions here, mostly for my own enjoyment:

This game has everything! Fractions, a frog, cybernetic brains, durians...

The complex systems bit is confirmed, at least. See Here. Specifically the last point under "Building and crafting":

You will notice I said something like Minecrafts Redstone system, and not Terrarias Circuit system. This is because redstone is a pretty ingenious and cumbersome system that allows you to construct computers out of logic gates, logic gates out of transistors and transistors out of torches. It is hard to use and herder to learn for somebody that doesn't know what an OR gate is, thus takes a long time to master, thus increasing play time.
Terrarias circuits are pretty easy, with simple input giving simple output. I have never seen any sort of complex machine built in terraria and I'm not sure the system lends itself to it.

Just having a circuit system is not enough, you need the kind that amounts to more than just hooking devices up to triggers.

Note that it says a circuit system with logic gates. Terraria's wiring is basically Minecraft's redstone without redstone torches (i.e. without logic gates). I don't see how a Terraria style circuit system with logic gates is any less potentially complex than Minecraft's redstone.

One thing Starbound will have that Garry's Mod does not is procedural level and monster generation. That gives an, in theory, extremely large (though perhaps bland and very similar) amount of content.

The grenade launcher also doesn't seem to give a direction indicator when hit by it, which means that you can stay hidden and using it pretty easily. I flanked a big group of enemies during night once on Esamir, near Glacier station. Sitting a few meters away a few meters up on a slope, I just kept raining grenades on them until they were all dead. I got 10 or 15 kills from that, and not one of them shot at me. It helped that I had a similarly-sized friendly force of infantry pinning them behind a rock, of course, but still, I was completely out in the open.

Yeah it doesn't reduce damage from other aircraft or missiles so it's not helpful in an A2A setup, since engaging another aircraft while inside their flak zone is suicidal anyway.

I certed vehicle stealth after that video and I've been playing with that on, just for the bonus of not being detected by proximity detection or prox/scout radar.

Everyone on the planetside forum preaches the vortek rotary as the highest DPS/lowest TTK/(other statistics), but I've had a lot more success flying the default gun (M20 mustang).

It does amazing amounts of damage, but is a fair bit less accurate than the Mustang, which means the Mustang is better for shooting fleeing ESF's. The Vortek is mostly useful for close-to-medium range dogfights since it you need it to be on target for quite a bit shorter time than the Mustang to destroy the enemy ESF. I enjoy those dogfights, so I always run with the Vortek and rocket pods.

New desktop! (Warning, large image)

I also found a really sweet rainmeter skin for launching my games. After some tweaking, it fits in flawlessly.

I said composite armour, and I meant composite armour. He's flying A2A, so in a Reaver, which has a composite armour cert. It reduces damage from flak and small arms fire.

A little birdie just told me there is an announcement coming very soon. When I tried to confirm it with official sources I got "Error establishing a database connection" errors on every page other than the landing page. My emails are also going unanswered at the moment.

Oooh rumours from small feathery creatures.

It seems the site is up again, with no changes from what I can see from just first glance. I wanted a release date, damnit!

312
I had a good night on Esamir playing A2A.

Are there any better recorders than the in game one? Even on high settings it seems to record at half screen resolution.

I noticed you are using composite armour, at least in the first part of that video. May I suggest taking a look at the nanite repair cert instead? It's actually really good now that it's been buffed. 5% health per second after 15 seconds of not taking damage (first rank) is nothing to sneeze at and it would fit really well with the playstyle you had going there.

313
They can. A reaver needs 8 rockets (out of 12) to hit the rear to kill a MBT, for example. It's my favourite activity as a pilot.

314
Well, the TR is still the most populated empire on Miller, but the VS have noticeably increased in population. They were usually clearly last, but now they're roughly on par with NC.

315
Today I saw an outfit of VS flying around the map with like a dozen liberators, presumably all capable of using the cloak.

Also I noticed a rather large increase in the number of scythes flying around, has something changed with the scythe?

I just think the VS is experiencing a resurgence in player numbers due to getting a better warpgate (on Indar, that is). At least that's the impression I've been getting on Miller. The same thing happened to NC when we got the top warpgate.
