Hey, wow, that would be great - Sorry, I didn't know that. Us authors are somewhat removed from what publishers get up to. All I can suggest is try and get hold of their help people. If you don't get an answer I'll give you the contact of my editor. Please keep in touch.

LOL, now with added meme! Reddit user Chobeat updated the picture I just linked!

@Over - kinda hard to update the print copy! Hey, if you ever need to own the book, some time in the future, to update yourself to the most recent version, there might be some good deals on it then.

@Rocket - it won't be available in shops unless you ask. You could try asking people to look at placing some orders? Alternately, if you head to Amazon.com you can search for the book and see a bit of a google preview.

@Krenshala - yeah, you'd have to ask the bookshops to stock it. Good luck with the wife :D

All - a forum friend shared this "action shot" of the book. I can't resist sharing it.

Awesome! Glad folks are having fun. Also, don't forget to donate to Toady!

Wherever is easiest - PM here is always good :)

Yup, sorry about that. It's a weird bug that I didn't know about when I made some edits to one of the later drafts. It's on "the list" for fixing.

82
Yes - it isn't well explained on O'Reilly's site, but O'R ebook customers will be alerted when the book is updated and able to grab a new copy. Other owners can, if they wish, "register" their book with O'R for $5 and also get the updates.

Print book will always be current to the version bought at the time of purchase. The current version is, basically the May releases of DF - so, exceptionally current

Thanks all! Great to see a real copy!

Verhid: I will have a review of the nobles section - the way titles evolve causes some confusion and mess. You are right, tho, Hammerer should be in there quite explicitly. Thanks also for other observations, some stuff gets munged in editing/conversion.

Ooh great! I haven't seen how it looks physically! I can't wait either!

It is available a lot of places via one method or another. Good Reads has a comparison button you can mash. Might help if anyone has payment peculiarities they need to deal with.

Binary Toast: The book is current to the April releases (includes minecarts and the awesome stockpile changes!). The print and ebook are both current. As the game updates in the future I will update the ebook and the print book will also get update (although may lag a week). I'll see what I can do about the description on the site.

Xheia: I think it's a good read, but you probably should wait and see what people say! I hope some come and answer your question! I'm told it's very easy to read and easy to follow and good fun. Also, all of O'Reilly's ebooks are shipped DRM free, so once you own a copy you can send it off to them no problem.

I do have a couple of ideas for more books, but I'm not sure if they would be viable. We'll see how this book goes and whether or not another would be doable. And thanks for the correction :)

Is the physical copy on a ship delay or such?

My editor says: "Our "retail availability" date in the database was yesterday, May 31st. So, they should ship without delay now. I think Amazon availability is early next week."

Hi folks. Since I've written a book on Dwarf Fortress I'm not going to be directly supporting or updating my old tutorials any more. Spare time for DF will be put into making sure the book is up to date! That's not to say these tutorials no longer work - they're still perfectly viable - I just won't be adding to them in the foreseeable future.

Thanks, hope you enjoy it! And I will send special love thoughts to folks who kindly review it on Amazon, O'Reilly and, now, Barnes & Noble.com :)
