Finally, .33 is required to play. Not sure how efficient the admins will be at booting hackers, but we'll see...
I'm sure other anti-hack measures will be introduced before long anyway.

EDIT: It's now much easier to join servers (I only think that; I hadn't ever gotten many connectivity issues anyway), admins can kick, Deuces are numbered (much easier to stop hackers), in-game text has been altered slightly, and there are also a few gameplay tweaks.

Can't wait. When quests, guilds, inns, manor houses etc. are all introduced, there'll be infinite adventuring potential. So many variables.

Check up the to-do list on the main DF page for a detailed look at planned features.

By the looks of things, we should be seeing a return to the level of detail we were at in 40d within 3-4 biggish releases. Assuming Toady doesn't decide to work on some different features in between the Caravan Arc releases.

It'd probably attract a more immediate interest if you just started up a new fort; I doubt too many people remember the thread at this stage. That said, I never actually asked for a dorf when I read through this the first time for some reason, so please name one "Gumbar" if you're planning to continue (if there're any free). Thankee, and good luck with whatever you decide to do.

If you really don't want their stuff, deconstruct the depot and then dump the scattered items onto a single dump tile (just to keep it neat). Then, atom smash said tile; problem solved!

40d is currently slightly more stable than the the latest release, which would be my only reason for picking it. Not for long, though, at the rate Toady is wading through these bugs. I think the new features are really too big a positive to give up for a slightly more stable a release, though.

Throwing them down deep pits with spikes at the bottom works equally well; the bigger the fall, the more damage done to the critter. Typically you'd want the pit to be over 10 Z levels and with spikes at the bottom for a definite kill.

At least, that's what I gathered from reading another recently posted thread relating to pit traps.

Good luck, hope that helps a bit.

I should be less obsessive about fort-planning, too. Painstainkindly pre-planned layouts can be fun, but I need some more spontaneity now and then.

There is nothing on the fourth layer apart from stairs, as it half rock and half soil, which I can't stand.

The worst thing that can happen to you is, after designating the entire layout of your fort, putting about an hours worth of work into it and then after waiting an age for your miners to dig some of it out for your other dwarves to occupy, you realise that there's a soil/rock split down the middle of your design.
FUUUUUUU-

Really swell idea; it'd be a shame to let it die. I'm not sure if I'll be able to take part, though.

My most disappointing artifact was certainly ''The Awe-Inspiring Inferno''. Couldn't think of a more awesome name for a weapon...
But turns out that it was a black-bronze barrel.

In that case, you might consider giving a heads up to the creator in the official thread.

Artifacts and high quality goods placed in high-traffic areas help also. I'm pretty sure that engraving walls serves this purpose, too.

Strange. Had a look at the Mayday tile-set; that dorf's sprite seems to be a blue version of the dwarven corpse. Possibly the sprite for potters is missing in the current version, or was never included in the first place due to the rarity of the profession. I'd just roll with it, if it doesn't affect gameplay in any way.

Good luck!
