DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: HFS - Too Weak?
« on: June 22, 2009, 12:13:49 am »
frog and tentacle demons can just be zergrushed with 10 melee champions. which flavor did you get?
they don't respawn, but may not all come out at the same time. there may be a few surprises left in there.

i think tilesets are a lot like pictures on lsd blotters. it doesn't change anything but gives your brain a nudge in a certain direction.

you must construct additional mechanisms.

Coins.

They're quite effective and give you entertaining mental imagery.
congratulations, you've invented baofu (one of the characters from persona 2: eternal punishment). bonus points if your character can remove the hdd from a laptop with one hand in a pinch.

i'd like to see the horror in the eyes of halotards when they witness the glory that is dwarf fortress. they will probably leave with a brain

DF Suggestions / Re: A suggestion on poop handling
« on: June 19, 2009, 12:21:59 pm »
I can only imagine the stories that come from tantrums about dwarves being brutally murdered while taking a crap, or dwarves throwing chamberpots. I'd find it really funny that they would throw feces just to calm down and receive a bad thought from having previously handled poop.
i can imagine what would happen:
urist mccrazy is throwing a tantrum!
urist throws some poop around
urist has calmed down
urist: "ARGH THERE'S SHIT ALL OVER MY HANDS BLOOD MURDER KILL KILL KILL"
urist mccrazy is throwing a tantrum!
et cetera et cetera.

now, can you really be against such hilarity? you must be an enemy of fun if you can resist the idea of "poopmurdered".

I appreciate Grammer
thanks, i will illustrate your inane posting as an example of bad thread necromancy.

also if somebody still has that mod i'd love to have it.

spine. they never heal. also, only 1 mood per dwarf. if the skill boosts from becoming a legendary didn't give him enough toughness to shrug it off then he will never walk again.

Collapsing a roof on their heads (ideally when they're all standing on traps) would be best.  Remember, when an SoF gets near a wooden support, it will burn.  Be creative.
traps wouldn't do anything because sofs can't be knocked out, i believe. those sofs that were supposed to be knocked out by the dust would just fly through the hole in the roof unscathed.

thread necromancy is not just replying to an old thread, it's replying to an old thread with something that doesn't contribute anything. no contradiction there.

of course, not everybody understands the difference and wants to act as a moderator at the same time.

this is what real thread necromancy looks like.

I had an adventurer named Gilgamesh who killed things with the severed head of a catoblepas. That was fun. When body parts are not available, I usually use pebbles or sand, because there is little more hilarious than breaking a giant's back with a thrown handful of sand....unless it's killing a catoblepas with the head of another catoblepas.
i think i'm going to one up you there. i once threw a dire wolf's head so hard at a regular wolf its head got smashed in, an unrecognizeable mess.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: NOES, MY SWORD

Are you sure it was a he?
Does it really matter?

You were twisting a sword in "his" lower body.
WHEN WILL THIS HILARITY STOP?

Fools. If Morul was to fight Ironblood, none of them would be victorious.

Something along the lines of this would happen. (Don't mind the bothering narrative and the non-dwarven combatants. :P )

Morul would strike on Ironblood's shield while Ironblood would try to shieldbash Morul's weapon away. In essence, the sheer force of the combined impact would force upon the apocalypse. Both would survive this, of course, but the rest of dwarf- man- and elfkind would be destroyed and wiped away from all history.

And somewhere, on a distant planet light years away from the world as dwarves know it, a utopian society will go lost due to a shockwave pushing its planet out of orbit, and into the nearby sun.
morul brining his hammer down on ironblood's shield may very well be a makeshift lhc.

sofs don't like water so much they evaporate any that comes close to them.
i don't really understand what you want to do with fortifications but if it involves shooting then remember that spirits of fire can throw fireballs.

also, yes, they do fly. they are nigh indestructible. burying them under a few tonnes of rock is the best option.
