My utter idiot of a Directing teacher literally walked in, handed us the syllabus, spent 20 minutes talking to some kid about cars, mumbled something about not wanting to be here today, and left. On an hour 15 minute class. Fucking teach, I'm paying way too much for this to be a free hour.

Welcome to college? It's a good thing the me of now isn't the me of college, or I'd have regularly raised my hand and gone "Hey I'm paying several hundred dollars for this course. Can we make with the teaching, please?"
Go yell at the dean yadayadayada

Yep, acid/base reactions produce a fuckton of heat. Even dissolving acids produces a lot of heat; for concentrated acids you have to add acid to water rather than the other way around so that the water doesn't instantly boil and spit acid everywhere.
Well its not just that, in water ionic acids dilutes themselves down to ions and bond with the water. When you increase water you can instantly cut down the concentration so you can literally wash it off in seconds.

As I said though bases do not dilute very well with water due to the OH- ion. It takes alot longer to remove but its lot less painful then attempting to neutralize.

I'm not sure if quaffing vinegar is the best course of action.
I meant for cleaning spills, etc. Can't do that for nuclear waste.

I don't see how it would hurt, though, at least for topical contact. Drinking may be a suffocation risk. Water is just more accessible to rinse with.
Lye is a base compound which doesn't dilute with water as well as acids. Its extremely dangerous as bases are bonded with their surroundings like glue so it doesn't roll off like acid.

Well yea i assume its still gotta fit your budget but I'm also assuming you can get more performance with the same price depending on the release.

So I was thinking of this one. It's refurbished, so you know, that's a minus, but otherwise, I think it'll last me at least the four years of university...?
My brother bought that for a laptop, its ok just never expect recent AAA games to run. I would actually hold off for a bit cause AMD is releasing their new line of APUs at the moment for laptops. Maybe you can snag some newer tech.

What are people using to mount ISO files these days? I'm mainly looking to reinstall Warcraft 3 and the expansion using my (legitimate) ISO files and CD keys that I have had for years, mainly for the feeling of nostalgia and trying to recall details of things from old maps for use in the new Source 2 engine via DotA 2.

I previously used Daemon Tools Lite, but from what I hear they are plagued with malware, adware and spyware on install, so I'm loathe to install it on my month fresh computer after a reformat.

WinCDEmu it is FOSS, so it satisfies my inner Richard Stallman. Also Daemon Tools is bloatware since the Chinese bought it out.
Jesus they need to hire a new web designer, that website looked so fake i swear it was trying to install adware XD

Laptop drives are mostly the same unless you grab the hybrid drives or SSDs

So say lets go for OEM replacement
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA2W014M8024 WD black, same specs for 60 bucks

Hybrid drive
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822178339 Seagate Hybrid Drive, basically has a huge buffer which can help alot times alot without the SSD price. 75 bucks

SSD
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=20-148-820 Extreme loading speeds but pricey for the storage size. 112 bucks

3. Heat exponentially rises as you increase voltage and clock speed. a .3Ghz increase can be enough to slap on additional 10c
This sounds wrong in regard to my understanding of physics, and is also not what I remember from graphs on overclocking. I think it should be quite linear assymptotically (theoretically even a bit lower due to black body radiation, but that's insignificant here), with some nonlinear effects locally.
It really just depends on the chip, i seen some 2500ks went from doing 55c on 1.25v to nearly 78c on 1.35v (this is after adjusting the multipler). Voltage is probably the scariest thing to mess with for a noob, i'm fine with FSB speed changes but refuse to touch voltage ever.
