It is.

If DF, could use Large Addresss for memory, take advantage whats in 64 bit OS, in 32 OS environments, it'll allow DF to goggle up more memory, which intern allows for just larger fortresses, or let smaller fortresses run even better.

If they get afflicted by gloom they wuill turn into soulless and bloodles monsters that probably won't fight with each other.
And acid/poison rain while it might kill them... they will rise up again as undead because of the evil biomes new properties.

Simply put... a pit full of magma is the only reliable way of invader disposal in evil biomes.

Both are kind of the point. Even if the Husks (or Zombies, in case of the death by rain) don't fight eachother, they'll still fight anyone else in there. I'll have magma or crossbows on hand to deal with them when i want to snag the loot, but the whole point of the thing will be for it to act as a blender, like we used to do with animals until now when they attack eachother if they can't move away.

I don't know if that's concept art or not, but those were used as actual sprites in the freeware remake of the first game, X-COM: The Two Sides (which sadly has been put on hold due to legality issues. Too bad, because as far as i can tell TTS was a pretty faithful remake, only the sprites were updated and you could mod in the original EU sprites if you so desired).

On-topic, SQUEE! As far as i know Firaxis does actually trace back to MicroProse, so i see no reason why they'd fuck this up.

WinRar. Just, WinRar. When the trial thing runs out, whenever you load WinRar up and you get the pop-up screen saying the trial's run out or whatever, click the "x" on the top-right of the little pop-up screen to close it, and you're good till you open WinRar up again and just gotta close the pop-up again.
