"Air chewing"

Urist McDwarf cancels eat: Winded.

Good luck! Even wooden cages should be able to trap it.
Just remember to keep a door to the pit so you can retrieve the animal and goblin pieces once it's done rampaging. Don't worry it can't open doors.

You guys all cook your tallow? I find it a pretty scarce resource for soap...

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

How do I minced wine?

Leave it out in the air until what's left is a solid mess and mince that?

B) If we have golemns, they should be able to be made out of any, and I mean ANY material.

Giant Spider Silk Sock Golemn hits for 9 damage. It is mangled!

A SOCK isn't a material though. It is an object. You seriously suggest one should be able to build golems out of water, cats, magma, smoke, fire, stills, wood, goblin leather, earrings, bone, sand, glass .. everything?
Be REASONABLE man!

Urist McMayor hates purring maggots.

Urist McFarmer loves purring maggots.

Urist McMayor bans the import of purring maggots.

Urist McFarmer gets a purring maggit in his birthday present.

Urist McGuard took joy in slaughter recently.

Just think what may happen at the magma forge...and  what happens when they are thirsty afterwards...

"Damn it, I got abit of lava on my gloves... I should go wash them off... but... I have to get a drink first!"

That's a horrible thought! I got my booze stockpile right next to the still! There's always at least 14 dwarves present.

I've got "The whiskered merchants" and "The mechanical inks" ... wait what?

The Mechanical Inks sound like they'd know alot about printers.

Haha didn't think about it like that. Dwarven technology surpasses us all!

A little off-topic but incredibly annoying. Spoiler tag due to long off-topic story.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Morale of the story: Floods are all well and good but don't let cages animals get caught in them.

1855
Make an animal pit, put all your animals in it, put the cage in it, set it up to a lever and release the goblin.

Watch as hilarity unfolds.

If a room is above an area, with a grate in the floor, are archers able to shoot down through the grate at enemies in the area below?

I don't think so .. I made a trapped tunnel that went under one of my walls into the city, the inside of the tunnels roof consisted entirely of grates.. but no marksdwarves took the shot.

Maybe I just missed it or it was a bug. All I know is I didn't see them shoot... and I'm all out of goblins to experiment on too!

Well.. My mayor married the broker, the broker was elected mayor next and the mayor became the broker. (did I confuse you yet?)

Together they've had 13 children. They share an office so... well I know they would have made more by now but unfortunately the father was crushed by a drawbridge and their breeding stopped.
One child grew up and became a guard. He just became a incredibly skilled guard after taking down a mad spear-wielding dwarf with his hands.
Another child died in a cave-in .. the rest are spending all their time in the farms.

Here's an idea.

Your fortress guard: Only recruit dwarves who've suffered injuries that keep them from sparring. Busted lung? Welcome to the guard! Wounded spine? Welcome to the guard! No hands? Welcome to the guard!

Tell the guards to not use any weapons. None. Nada. Hand-to-hand combat only. ONLY! If they were wrestlers during their military days then DON'T RECRUIT THEM! only those who can barely tell their thumb from their toe gets to apply.

This will likely help your dwarves to survive the beatings... as for the hammerer? He's a tough one. Try to arrange it so he falls asleep on a weapon trap or something. Don't make it lethal .. just.. hurt him good so he can't get out of bed ever again.
