Nope. When was the last time you saw a vampiric weapon?  Trust me, I know more than most.

The grammar would be a +0,+9 Vorpal long/short sword, btw. I love that +#,+9 dagger you have. It's epic, but Katana... katana's are katana's.  Kick ass.

I'm currently burning a bloody swath through the lair myself with a DEFE. Rather squishy, you're twice as resilient as me, with more EV to boot.  I just like casters more, I guess.  Would hate to fight your ghost, though.

The thing is you start needing defenses at around that point. Start building up dodging, pumping up enchantments (charms in trunk, not hexes) and air. Get some of the defensive spells going.  You really start to need them.

As any player playing elves knows, High elves are pretty squishy.  Now, imagine for a moment, something infinitely squishier than a High Elf. Deep Elves are the squishiest things I've ever met.  Recently tried a Hill Orc Priest (START THE WAUGH)(lol) and he was so much sturdier. But mostly, just bragging about my epic exp lvl 13 DEFE. (S)he is currently on L:6.  I hate hydras. Hate them so much.  Got insanely lucky with weapons (lol I don't use weapons) this game. I have moderately enchanted sabres of most of the good brands (for Lair: elec, speed, venom). in my stash, as well as a staff of conjuration.

Poisonous cloud is so broken.
Sif Muna loves me so much, I got Ring of Flames and Firestorm so early this game.  Can't cast them, but I'm working on it.

First impression of this thread: You were massively incompetent. Now I just think you're sappy.

If you really love showing off your forts, guys, I suggest taking it off to Markavians absolutely marvelous DF MAP ARCHIVE.

Just grab the latest DF map archiver, export an image of your fort (through the same menu where you save your game), and share away! just link to it from here!

(I don't have anything about sharing your screenshots on the forum, but this thing is amazing. You have to see it)

... That sounds serious.

He still has to evoke it.  It also doesn't last forever, you know.

Well, as a Draconian, it's the only spell you'll ever need.

No, that would just be Toady One being the dick.  One of the possible things for dwarves to create artwork of is another dwarf's greatest fears.  Don't ask me why he programmed it that way, but it's a pretty interesting feature.

It's even better when it's something funny, like bees, or giant cave spiders.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: What do I do with all these rocks?!

Make a quantum stockpile in your stoneworks industry (small dump zone), go into the stocks menu, dump all stones, wait for your dwarves to haul them all, unforbid all stones and start rock crafting. Or statues. Or blocks. Or give more furniture to each of your dwarves.

Call me crazy... But this sounds like the best idea since atom smasher "burials"!
I've been here since this idea originated, and yes. It is one of the best ideas of all time, up there with the magma-moses deathtrap. (It was epic)

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Magma flow drop tunnel?
« on: March 13, 2011, 01:52:47 am »
What you have is a grate, several tiles wide, that magma falls through, I guess.  Dwarves trigger pressure plates, shutting off the floodgates above the grates, stopping the flow of magma.  They won't path through the magmafall entrance, though, so it will never work.  You have to have it lever activated.

Personally, I'd raid the first level of Snake.  I beat the entirety of snake without poison resistance before (just killdudesed my way to the rune, clearing all the levels completely). It was sick.  Then again, I was a level 23 HOPr with an amulet of rage and 27 axe skill.  Anyway, the moral of the story is that you can survive in snake without poison resistance.  After that? Head down D.  Swamp is annoyingly deadly without poison resistance, or at least clarity.  Nothing more embarrassing than death by drowning!

Sounds spectacularly mediocre, Cthulhu.
