That's neither grim nor dark enough. If it's not grimdark, it's not WH40k.

NF may be pretty addictive, but please do not play too much. If you are spending hours upon hours per day in NF please contact us so we can help by temporarily blocking your account until you can find a nice girl (or boy) friend
Okay, that's it. I'm in.

At some point, the only thing that can kill you is ghosts, because you can't juggle them. My issue is I can build an area blast mega-mega that kills everything before it walks onto the screen, but it can't hit ghosts, so I'm stuck with the best "shooting" tower I can make, which puts a hard cap on how many creeps I can kill in the ten seconds it takes them to cross the screen.

Level 3,000 before I got bored.

Tropico is more like sim city. While there are governmental concerns, most of the gameplay is placing buildings and managing people. An LP I saw had maybe 200 people in the country at the end.

Getting around town is a bit tedious, yes...  It's faster but far more irritating with a dirtbike, so there's that.

Also, you can get a skill that makes you constantly move a bit quicker.  Combine that with a shot of the good stuff from a looting run down in the lab and you should be good to go.  Still not as fast as a bike, but...  We really don't want to talk about that rickety pile o' wank now do we?

EDIT:  Nevermind this post, it is based on entirely false assumptions.
My favorite glitch in the game: if you can move continuously without reversing direction or hitting a wall, you gradually accelerate. You can get going much faster than the camera if you're twitchy enough, and zombies don't spawn too far offscreen. If you can learn the town's layout you can make some pretty good time down the larger avenues.

Low metal does not benefit a research base. If you're using a free account, sure...95 area and 2 metal is probably better than 85 area and 3 metal, but it's the extra area that benefits you. Not the less metal.
Sorry, I was too much "take my word for it" and not enough "here's why." So, here's why:

3 Metal Planets:
Asteroid 65 Area, 5 Fertility
Craters 85 Area, 4 Fertility
Metallic 85 Area, 4 Fertility
Rocky 85 Area, 5 Fertility

2 Metal Planets:
Arid 95 Area, 5 Fertility
Tundra 95 Area, 5 Fertility
Gaia 90 Area, 6 Fertility
Radioactive 90 Area, 4 Fertility
Toxic 90 Area, 4 Fertility
Earthly 85 Area, 6 Fertility
Magma 80 Area, 5 Fertility
Volcanic 80 Area, 5 Fertility

The 2 Metal astros ARE the ones with more area. They also have more fertility on average. The ones that don't have high fertility have high Gas, so you can take astros in the outer orbitals. The inner ones are better, too. If you find them in the first orbital, then you can save a fortune by alternating Solar and Gas plants. If you find them in the second orbital, 3 Solar is nothing to sneeze at, and they get +1 Fertility on top of it.

You want to grab all the 3 metal astros for production powerhouses. No sense stressing out to find 10 or 12 Rockies when there's all those perfectly good Radioactives and Tundras lying around.

Good research astros have lots of area and high energy (3-5), but low metal (2, building on a 1 metal base is painful). These aren't good for production bases, so you won't find other players competing for them. but you don't need much to get labs online.

Well, apparently, Erepublik doesn't want me playing their game. Somebody decided I had multiple accounts and banned me. I'd love to know why, but I guess the right to face one's accuser hasn't reached the New World yet.

Silly clouds. I tried to cheer my hero with 'Fight, fight, fight the horrifying ancient beast!' The clouds dropped the "the." Hopefully I didn't encourage the mammoth too much.

Honestly, does anyone ever actually do these stupid things or do people just perpetually wank about them on the WotC forums?

If by "wank about them" you mean "notice a loophole in the rules on some idle Tuesday when going over the campaign notes from last week," then yeah, sure. Of course nobody actually tries this crap in a real game! It's just amusing to discover where an otherwise finely-crafted game system has a crack in it, and subsequently figure out something cool that you could do with that crack were it a hard-written law of reality. This is ROLEPLAYING, after all. If you could pull crazy crap like this in Real Life, PEOPLE WOULD DO IT. Somebody once figured out if you get a certain metal really hot, it melts on an imperceptible level and produces more energy than anyone knows what to do with. In a game, this would be cheesy. In reality, this is done every day around the world.

Half the problems would have been solved if Aribeth had just done the goddamn quests herself.
Seriously. "Go and see that the beasts are safe!" Aren't you wearing boots of teleportation? Pop over there, check on them yourself, and come back in 10 seconds!

Sure, maybe in the end its a waste of time, but we still find enjoyment in races for certain tech or putting Levi's on noobs bases for the lols.
Oh, yeah. Nothing funnier than ruining someone else's fun for no reason.

Come to Ixion. That way, when someone parks a levi on your base, you'll have friends who can chase it away.

I certainly hope they make Super Muties as powerful as they were in Tactics. For those of you who haven't played tactics super muties are a pain in the ass (they have over 200 HP compared to your squads less than 100 hp per member, and carried SAWs [squad automatic weapon, not the wood workin one], and browning machine guns, and often killed half your squad in one burst).

I think you'll be happy. The super muties in FO3 were similar, still packing over 200 hp (the player can get around 280 if you really try to max it out, and they come in packs of 4-6) and carrying miniguns that can cut you in half (through power armor) in a few seconds if you can't afford to bring similar firepower.
