DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Your most complicated artifact?
« on: June 12, 2009, 05:06:08 pm »
Woooot camp toga for my fourth ever artifact.

This is a pig tail toga.
It is decorated with Pig-tail and encircled with bands of rose gold. It is made with pig tail cloth. This object is adorned with hanging rings of pig tail and menaces with spikes of oak and cow leather. On the item is an image of four-pointed stars in Pig tail.

Does anyone know what the stars could be referring to? also lol try to picture that toga and you cant imagine anyone dressed in it except gok wan

Huh? I understand why I would want to make my whole fortress out of platinum (dribble) but  what...Microline! Possibly the most boring material in the game and iron is also probably the most boring metal in the game 'sept copper.

Hey guys good news!  ;D

I have decided that DF is far too good a game for me to cheat it and so have totally given up searching for a utility to help me in my criminal efforts! :D

Hi, I thought that it was really good and there were alot of words in there that I had to look up in Websters. There was some repetition (intentional?) but otherwise excellent!!  ;D

I though I'd might as well post a little (it is quite long) of my story up here and see what you guys think  because you all seem so nice.

Enjoy.

Prologue

The thick fog enclosed around them, as the done-up double-decker bus drove through the car laden streets. All around were decaying husks of vehicles, but they were swept aside by the huge home-made snow plough welded to the front of the bus. All through the refurnished interior were the same anxious but stubborn expressions, the same white-knuckle grip on their rifles, the same flickering pupils that darted all over their eyes. The bus had been turned into a military vehicle after only five weeks of elbow-grease and material scavenging. They had outfitted it with stabilizers, so it couldn't be overturned by the bigger ones. It had been armed armoured to the teeth with thick metal to protect from the stronger ones. The seats had all been removed to make room for extra ammunition and supplies. Every passenger had been equipped with at least one firearm and had several designated firing areas. A ladder leading to the top of the bus also revealed the crown jewel of the now, armoured personnel  carrier, a (slightly outdated) Vulcan minigun with enough rounds to allow it to fire continuously for five minutes. It was attached to a swivel seat so the operator could fire more accurately. However it would have to be evacuated in case anything managed to get on top of the bus or if there was a flying threat.
Luckily for this group of survivors their home village of St Peterson had been situated right next to a military base that had been evacuated-destroyed-overrun (in that order) after the bombs had fallen. The base was where they had picked up pretty much all of their munitions and ordinance. At first they had hoped that the military might still be operating there and that they could provide adequate protection, but they had found it completely abandoned with parts of the base completely caved in. Instead of protection though they found the means to protect themselves.

What do you guys think? (By the way it's not finished)

Who needs a huge block of platinum?  Nobody.  Platinum is only useful as a trade good.
Exactly. Useful for trading off for pretty things like huge Steel Battle axes that I can mangle nasty goblins with.

Who needs a huge block of adamantine?  Nobody.  The one place you can find it now is the one place it should ever be found, period.
Huh? I haven't got that far yet. I've never mined out adamantine.

No for some reason it still hasn't worked I also tried some other things too. I looked through the wiki and copy pasted some of the reactions there in but none of them seem to change anything.
I have been creating new worlds and all so it's not that.  :-\

DF Modding / Change tile into ore?
« on: February 15, 2009, 04:04:48 am »
Hi i posted only yesterday onto this forum. I was asking about ore.exe (a utility which does exactly what my title is asking about) but it turns out that the kind people who gave a reply were right. Ore.exe was written for 23a. Damn.
But anyway I have made this awsome fought with everyone alive and cuddly rooms with masterpiece obsidian furniture and all but on the map I chose there is practically no ores and so I was wondering if there was an UPTODATE utility similar to ore.exe that could do what I'm asking. Any responses help me please.
Also I am a noob so real simple language when telling me how to get the utility working please!  :)

Plus on a completely different note I dowloaded maydays tileset and changed my init to match:

[WINDOWEDY:800]

Full screen info.

[FULLSCREENX:1280]
[FULLSCREENY:1024]
[FULLFONT:maydayMIN.bmp]

But absolutely bugger all has happened (excuse my French; sometimes I just get so angry! not at anyone in particular of course)

As stated I am a super nooooooob   :-[. I don't have a clue about computers atall. Basically I wanted to know if anyone can help me to use ore.exe. I downloaded it from the utilities part of the wiki but don't have the faintest idea how to use it.
I extracted the file and double clicked it. It loaded up and closed down again. Nothing happened.
Any advice is welcome please. Remember I am a noob so please use simple language. Also i am on vista if that helps.

 ;D
