Cigars don't use paper, btw. Cigarettes are relatively modern and don't really fit, though.

I foresee a bug in a future version, mass dwarf suffocation in smoking lounges...

Imagine this:
Your herbalist decides that life is a little too tough, and takes a couple quarry bush leaves, finds a heat source (magma or fire), and starts to smoke them.
Doing this gives the herbalist positive thoughts and helps reduce pain he would take in battle, increasing his efficiency in workshops, and gives you a new trade good to export.
But there is a catch.
If the herbalist went too long without his precious quarry bush leaves, he would begin to have bad thoughts, and even go on withdrawl and have tantrums until he gets his next cigar/cigarette.

Build your trade depot on an elevated floor with one thing holding it up, connected by a bridge.
Elves come in, bridge goes up, support goes down, free elf pancakes for everyone.
