Aren't the Inquisitions out of the game's time frame?  I know the Spanish inquisition wasn't a big thing until the 1400s, and I was under the impression the Papal Inquisition was about the same timeframe. I suppose it could pop earlier depending on how quickly you reconquer Spain or in other contexts. Excited to see Monastic orders be a thing. Hopefully this will flesh out some of the religious politics and not just ruler-pope interactions.

Anyway, this area of medieval history in popular things always gets me nervous because its easy to overly simplify stuff to the point of inaccuracy.

The Inquisition was founded primarily to combat the Cathars in the 1200s, so it's well within the game's timeframe. Dominicans and Franciscans come in at about the same time - they were pretty important to the Inquisition especially early on.

FAKE EDIT: And ninja'd. Baw.

I'm right in the middle of writing an essay on the Cathars, so this is very good timing. Heresies! Gnosticism! Dominicans and Fransiscans! The Inquisition! I am so ready.

Just smash it. Boris will put something better together from the scrap.

Boris flexed his fist servos. So he had not imagined it at all. Something was in here with him. Something that had tampered with his reactor - or lived on it.

'I've no children but the ones the void took from me,' Boris called out. 'Be you stowaway or ghost, show yourself! I'll not deal with shadows!'

Get it on sale. It's a nice game and getting better, but it's still lacking in quite a few things. I'm sure there'll be a sale at some point. Paradox loves sales.

Also, 80 USD, what the hell? I hope that's for SotS, because I don't know in what universe does Stellaris with expansions get anywhere near that.

I can easily get a new one, so I've got a Grombrindal code... for the one to do the best Skaven impression! I'm waiting!

It came with a 20% off voucher for the game, if anybody's thinking of buying it and likes discounts.

Quick-quick, man-thing. Give-give warpstone. Or we stab-stab you and your offspring, man-thing. Yes-yes? Hurry, now-now, man-thing! Before big moon rises! SQUEEK!

[The moment you resist just a bit, they will probably squirt the musk of fear and skitter off. Unless there's a pack of them ...]

That'll do it. PM'ing you the code.

Okay i completely lost track right now of continents and people. There was so much fuckery of time, reality and other stuff that i have no idea what is even going on anymore. And then Aodun just swooping in killing half the gods.

seriously start reading from page 25 of the original thread and get confused as all hell...
Take artistic license. As mentioned time and reality-fuckery, so whatever works best for you.

This, pretty much. I don't think anyone will mind if their creations aren't all perfectly represented, given the timeskip and divine shenanigans implicit in each of the options.

I took great pleasure in humiliating the Poles again and again as the Teutonic Order (later Prussia). I even purged some provinces of weakling Polish influence before I realized they were quite happy in slavery. Later, I enjoyed invading and force-converting two-province Poland to Protestant whenever I got bored (somehow, they always reverted to Catholic).

Through all this, through all the screams of Winged Hussars being crushed under Teutonic discipline, I was thinking of you, Kot.

(Okay, I wasn't. I was mainly thinking how lucky and desperate my victories were, because Poland is terrifying.)

(Also, wow cultural conversion feels too easy given it's gotta represent either genocide or the kind of cultural suppression and re-education that historically took generations.)

Thanks folks.

Currently trying to get together the history and make up of all continents as well as all species, artifacts, items, faiths, animals and plants...gods its lots and lots of stuff...

Inb4 the Phoenix Ascendant option gets picked and most of that becomes long dead and irrelevant anyway.

'Sometimes, Fin, I swear you come close to making sense,' Boris said, banging his forehead against the wall. 'Alright. Then... waste the explosives in a manner most engendering the non-existence of matter we don't like. Like Varkonius. Better?'

Sadish will offer to tell our enemies about the utensils used during the Third Dynasty in the Void Pyramids of Xnanoon V, and by the time she gets to the end (an end, anyway - I don't think there is a definite end where Sadish's trivia is concerned) we'll have made our escape unnoticed!

643
Boris punched the auxiliary shielding port he was working on, then, for good measure, punched it again. A lifetime of experience had taught him some machinery understood nothing but force.

This work was taking rather longer than he'd have liked. Boris monitored the team's comms - it seemed Sadish hadn't just been writing poetry, but that there was also some kind of super plague to kill them all? He supposed it might be worthwhile to talk to the Fin after all - and sent out a message.

'Boris Mundus here. Reactor work taking time. Suggest you leave without me. If there is need for explosives, check my quarters. Just don't waste them.'

Work! Offer my explosives for the mission for anyone who knows what they're doing with them.

The other-civs-surveying-first-issue isn't necessarily something they'd mention in a dev diary. I'd wait for patch notes to see if they're really ignoring it.

Ghaz, you magnificent bastard. I really shouldn't apply, but I really don't think I can resist. I'm thinkin' of some child/creation of Sabt Golgo. Some kind of dualistic god representing both the Shattered and the Mirrorborn, maybe.

Or maybe I'll just play the ol' girl again. The Great Spider still has webs to weave (assuming we pick a background that'd work in - the C option doesn't necessarily say she was destroyed, so in that case she could just have gone into hiding or such).
