DF Gameplay Questions / Magma and natural walls
« on: April 12, 2009, 07:09:30 pm »
I'm going to make this short and simple:
Does magma destroy NATURAL walls? I think someone said it does, I know it doesn't destroy constructed walls, but does it destroy natural ones?

I think this topic was derailed, so back to the imp fat, I personally haven't butchered an imp, and the imps in my map are dead, somebody should try that out.

It's on the wiki, it says:
Quote
WARNING: Fire imp fat never stops burning. It's also immune to fire damage. Therefore you must crush fire imp fat to stop it from burning.

Well, after embarking just set it back to your tileset.

This is why I don't use graphic sets, they mess up world gen with weird symbols.
Just set it back to normal graphics and it should be fine, don't bother trying to decode it.

(I'm sorry about posting on this old thread but I just had an epiphany)
(Epiphany is a weird word)
The coal inside does stop burning after a long time, but what about FIRE IMP FAT? It never stops burning, and if you temporarily put [FIREIMMUNE] on your dwarves you could put it in a bin, and it would keep burning, forever and ever and ever and ever...

Quadruple Bonus: Make a cube that has smaller 3x3x3 rooms, each room must have a HORRIBLE trap in it. Also, each room must have access via hatchs/doors to each adjacent room.
Quintuple Bonus: The rooms move around within the cube :D)
(Another bonus if you know where that comes from  :))

DF Gameplay Questions / "Too close to edge" question
« on: April 09, 2009, 08:27:37 pm »
Alright, I'm officially confused about constructed walls and that darn "too close to edge" thing, here's my problem:
First off, I built a wall.
Then, a little later, I tried to build another wall next to it, parallel to the edge, and it wouldn't let me.
I can build a wall closer to the edge on the z-level above, so why am I getting this?
EDIT: Also, another oddity, if I go one tile closer to the edge, I can build it.
EDIT (again):Here's some pictures http://s148.photobucket.com/albums/s11/shad0wyone Just see the Weird# ones 1-3 are the z-level above 4-5 the z-level I want the walls on.

If carp can get washed off the map, like wild land animals, they disappear from the list completely if they go off the map IIRC.

Yes, the "outdoor" part, what is this "outdoors" of which you speak, even if it exists, I'm sure it's some kind of elf thing.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Do Tower-Caps grow under rocks?
« on: April 08, 2009, 10:20:21 pm »
I find blocks more important than statues, I prefer to use well-made statues. Plus you can make a giant tower with the stone, but that would take a while, hence the blocks first, to shove them in a block stockpile.
