Deal with it? I mean, that's pretty much what you have to do.

We've got one person on the board that thinks misandry is a-ok, that I know of.
Interesting, do they actually say this, or do you just think their opinions are sexist?

Both genders have their bullshit to go through, but I think we're roughly equal at this point.  That isn't to say that there aren't issues that need to be addressed, but I don't think one side is "winning".  A lot of the problems on both ends have more to do with social attitudes which I don't think can really be addressed legally.

One thing I think a lot of people fail to acknowledge is that men and women ARE different, and that should be taken into account when citing statistics and such.

I think a lot of our ideas about gender roles run pretty deep, so equality in all areas is probably going to be an uphill climb, or maybe even impossible.  Certainly something to try for though.

Odd thread title too, misandry literally means "hatred of men".  Is there anyone here that thinks we should hate people because they were born with a penis?  I'm sure there are a few, but probably not enough to have a real discussion.

Other Games / Re: Steam coming to Linux (for real this time)

Please please please please please let this be true. I would love to actually be able to use steam again, if only to talk to people. Linux can play 75% of the games I want to play, which is still more games than I have free time, so I'm good there, but would love to get on steam chat.
Steam actually works pretty well under the latest version of wine.  Give that a shot.  That's how I chat with my friends under linux half the time.

You should really not believe at phoronix, they're obsessed with ads revenie and will publish the slightiest rumor if they think it's good for page views

But internet says a source engine is ready for linux, and that the last move to include indie and coffee breakers was part of the grand strategy to come to linux without an empty store
I believe valve is working on something, I just don't think Micheal is telling us the entire story.  Everything he posts seems to be misleading or evasive.

Why do I believe this story less and less the more the phoronix guy posts?

Other Games / Steam coming to Linux (for real this time)

You may remember last year around this time there was a huge story about Steam and a bunch of Source games coming to Linux.  Valve later came out and quashed these rumors, but it turns out they've been busy.

A few weeks ago, Valve began sending out emails to prominent members of the Linux community, looking for help debugging some OpenGL performance issues.  They also invited Michael Larabel from Phoronix, the Linux news blog that infamously jumped the gun last year, to visit ValveHQ.

That visit took place today, and apparently they have a client and games up and running.  Michael Larabel is doing a writeup as we speak, but has already tweeted a little bit about it, and has been talking in his irc channel.  Details are still a bit sketchy, but I think it's safe to say it's actually happening.

And I'm annoyed by passive aggressive posts about people being annoyed by previous annoying behavior in the "Internet habits which annoy you" threads.

I'll also recommend MSE.  It always comes rated pretty highly on av comparatives and stays out of your way.

Found it
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicaraguan_Sign_Language
It's not exactly what you're talking about, but it's close.  A bunch of deaf children, each with their own "language" were brought together.  They eventually were able to develop their own complex way of communicating.

That's probably the closest you'll get to an answer, for obvious ethical reasons.

Anyone have any suggestions for good salt and vinegar potato chips?  The only ones that I like are the Tim's ones.  All the others just taste like vinegar flavoring or have the wrong salt / vinegar ratio.

If you aren't familiar with Tim's, they're very thick crunchy kettle chips fried in peanut oil.
