I don't stereotype Asians as being good at math because I've known plenty of them who were terrible at math.

General Discussion / Re: A quick summary of the Hostess debacle

I just hope someone buys Hostess so I can still get Zingers on occasion. I don't have anything else to contribute to this conversation other than that.

Haha, imma download this to see how much RAM it uses when loading the raws. Fortbent using a GB now...
Wait, Dwarf Fortress uses more RAM if your raws are huge? No wonder some mods are unplayable for me.

Any chance of getting single pony type exclusive civ files as an addon? A civ each for earth, unicorn, and pegasus?
It's cannon from pre-equestria times.

It would be interesting having a unicorn exclusive fort, or an earth pony mega farm.
Plus one problem with this mod is it's REALLY hard for me to force myself to assign ponies based on my fortress needs, instead I end assign them based on caste strengths. If I only had earth ponies it wouldn't be a problem assigning one as a clothier

I'd do it myself but wordpad croaks trying to open a 10meg text document...
Try Notepad++, it's perfect for opening text files of that size. It's what I use when I experiment with modifying the raws. Also I have some free time so I might see about making that myself. I just took a look at the raws and all I have to say is that they're too complicated for me to modify. My god Sorcerer, how the hell do you do this?

Other Games / Re: Peacfull games (Preferably roguelike)
« on: November 15, 2012, 02:53:48 am »
Honestly, the only games I can really recommend that are roguelike in some manner and are peaceful for the most part are Haven and Hearth and Dwarf Fortress. For non-roguelikes I personally would recommend The Sims franchise and the Harvest Moon franchise, a distant third being the Shepherd's Crossing franchise.

However, Dwarf Fortress and Haven and Hearth from my experience are most like what you are looking for. I myself prefer to have my dwarves live peaceful lives outside of building mazes filled with death traps, and I can vouch for the violent elements of Haven and Hearth being completely optional outside of non-consensual player-versus-player combat. Other than that I don't know what else to suggest. If you find a good peaceful roguelike that allows for the building of nice little hamlets outside of what I have mentioned let us know will you?

I still think that there isn't wrong with having your ponies live like dwarves. Pegasi make wonderful miners, masons, carpenters and engineers due to [SPEED:777], or so I remember. I just got back into playing with Dwarf Fortress recently however so I'm looking forward to seeing if this is true or not.

inb4 cutie marks make this difficult for some reason, magical flank tattoos be damned I want pegasi masons and engineers to build me a glorious maze of death!

General Discussion / Re: "Why don't women like nice guys?"
« on: November 14, 2012, 03:11:48 am »
I just want a female who is kind, gentle, and sensitive to my circumstances. One who might be willing to be the breadwinner while I stay at home and take care of the house and the kids. One who perhaps could coax me into trying new things in a gentle and considerate way while considering that psychologically I'm a nervous wreck unless hopped up on stimulants due to both past trauma and an unusual body chemistry that makes them have a reverse effect. I don't think I'm going to be able to find such a person anytime soon however.

I'm going to leave it at that since I don't have anything else to say that won't end up being slightly incendiary and I don't have anything to contribute to this conversation that isn't in some way. Goodnight.

Lemme guess- showed you how to beat the game while killing Vivec?
Not that. I already knew about that path thanks to uesp.net. Just the sheer power that those Khajiiti had made me miss my old saves with my Dunmeri enchanter, Amana. She was a different kind of gamebreaking by the time she got the Amulet of Shadows, the Robe of Drake's Pride, the Ring of Phynaster, the Curiass of Savior's Hide, and two daedric daggers called Blinkblade and Mendingblade. Blinkblade made her become invisible after she struck the enemy, while Mendingblade restored her health with each strike.

She was nigh unstoppable and managed to hit level 55 before I lost her saves. Don't ask how I lost them, though I think it may have had to do with some internal conflict. I'm going to work on making her as such again though, albeit doubly so.

General Discussion / Re: Does durable headphones even exist?
« on: November 12, 2012, 02:30:28 am »
I don't purchase expensive headphones due to the inability to afford such a luxury when my landlord takes most of my benefits in exchange for renting me a room. However, I find that Sony headphones are quite durable for the price - the kind I purchased was about $16 USD and last close to nine months considering the fact that I wear and use them for most of almost any given day.

The jury is still out on the new pair of Skullcandy 2XL Shakedowns I purchased a week ago, but honestly I still think that Sony beats out some of the other cheaper brands in regards to sound quality and durability for said price. I would however recommend that you do not purchase dinky $5 headphones because those in my experience will either break or turn out to be defective.

... yeah, I hear the street outside constantly. And the air moving. And the bushes outside rustling. And the AC when it turns on, and the laptop's fan, and my own breathing, and usually my heartbeat (that one's tough to keep a hold of, though), and etc., and so forth, and so on. I frakking hate televisions. I spent like a decade of fairly concentrated effort getting to the point I was actually able to consistently hear. I'm somewhat hypersensitive to sense datum these days as a results, and distraction and trouble it brings aside, I wouldn't give it up for something as trivial as a particular slice of sanity. Which makes not noticing the thing was on my hand even more strange. I'm usually pretty aware it's there and fiddle with it as a mannerism.

I can relate. I'm hypersensitive to most common forms of external stimuli - light, noise, smell, pressure, texture, vibrations and tone. I also have difficulties with crowded places as well, so I have difficulties going outside during the daylight hours because of how bright and active everything is during the daytime. Most days I'll spend what time I can inside my room playing video games or in my apartment talking to my roommates, only going outside to greet the landlady and go for my daily walk to the nearest shopping center to browse at both food and electronics, perhaps making a purchase of comfort food or energy drink in order to calm my nerves.

I'm like this because my nervous system is kind of messed up, as is my brain. They're messed up in such a way that makes my collection of senses very keen overall - except sight. I manage to fix this by wearing headphones and listening to my music loud enough to where I barely hear anything outside of my music and my thoughts. I find that that as well as taking my time alone in my room helps when I'm overstimulated, something that happens on average at least once or twice a day in some cases.

Anyways, I hope things get better for you. In other news, I haven't had any what-the-fuck moments today outside of on a whim buying my favorite kind of sandwich from Subway - meatball marinara on sourdough, toasted and topped with Monterey cheddar, chipotle southwest sauce and parmesan cheese. At the Subway nearest to me it costs $5.90 and it is well worth it. I think doing things on a whim is a different kind of what-the-fuck than what this thread's intention implies however.

General Discussion / Re: Do MUD's and ASCII Graphics Provoke Insanity?
« on: November 10, 2012, 03:01:14 pm »
I've spent days just playing Morrowind and only taking breaks to eat, drink, or use the bathroom. That, Princess Maker 2 and Fatal Labyrinth are the only games I can honestly say I've done this with - outside of visual novels. Almost every other game can only keep my attention for up to three hour sessions at most and even then usually average sessions shorter than that.

Fatal Labyrinth is the only roguelike I recall binging on. It's an old Sega Genesis game that I spent twelve hours playing and managed to beat the game after doing such. I haven't played it since because I felt satisfied with my conquest of said game.

My roommate should really stop with the sexual harassment. I am starting to have paranoid thoughts and nightmares about him sexually assaulting me and it's keeping me up at night.

I am unable to go a day without one Andrew Yanez sexually harassing me or lying to my face it seems. I'm pretty certain I'm going to want to talk to a therapist after tonight.
