Hooray!  Everything looks fine to me.  I just don't want to go first if you do roll dice for turn order.

I see, those bug reports sound like a problem.  Maybe if you just post a link here, for alpha testing?  Those of us who desperately need Therapist have seeked out this thread, and will understand that it's not 100% yet.

I really can't understand how I played with the built-in jobs management.

The new organized jobs-list is nice: it's easier to set a certain job on a certain dwarf, though a little harder to see exactly what jobs a dwarf has.  But without the Therapist, I can no longer change my Peasant-caste from miners to wood-cutters in two clicks.  Or see if I even have woodcutters already!

Thank you so much, you've removed so much of the unfun tedium from this great game.  I too would appreciate an incomplete release, since many can't bring ourselves to play the new version without it.

Also, all praise to Wife of Chmod!

All glory to She!

If ShadowDUMP has no objection, I'll
Make the chariot's shields stronger against fire.
Good, I was hoping you'd do that.
I'm half expecting us to pop up in the middle of a volcano or something.

Think I should try to make them absorb fire instead of just nullifying it?  Seems like that could be bad on a 6.

I don't get critical failures on enchanting, right?  Or is that after I get 1 more exp?  I'm new to RTDs.

Excellent, I have been very fortunate thus far!
Waiting on ShadowDUMP's action.  He'll be directing the vehicle I currently reside in, after all.

Yes let's get this started (in 48 hours)!

Honestly, the new version is sooo sloooow on loading (and in general) that I will most likely play both DF and LCS at the same time.

Who else 'loves' the 15 minutes of "loading game"?

Starting games is equally slow.  Avoid adventure mode!  At least the DF part of the game runs at a fairly decent clip, provided you do not pause, do not access any menus, and do not issue commands.  All of which could cause the game to glitch for a few minutes.

I think the new graphics code hasn't been merged in yet, perhaps that will help some of that.
I wish I had more time to play it right now (He had to release it right as I start moving).

My drowning chambers always work within about 200 tics for normal goblin wrestlers and a little longer for elites.  I believe that if they have any swimming skill they will not drown unless the level above them is covered and the water is sufficiently deep (probably needs 7/7).  So if your goblins aren't drowning in the pond, they aren't going to any time soon.  Eventually they'll probably be good enough at swimming to climb out.

This was my experience.  I think I managed to drown goblins in 7/7 water with no ceiling a few times, but with another trap it took too long filling and the goblins gained a level or two of swimming.  Then they never drowned (since it was only tile worth of water, there was always air above them).  I heard that if I had a floor above that 7/7 water then they would have drowned no matter what.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: The Little Questions Thread
« on: April 01, 2010, 01:58:54 am »
Alrighty... trying to figure out how tundra biomes work.

I embarked, and literally dug down and got everybody underground ASAP

but people still died of cold... why?

Odd, I've had migrants hang out outside my glacier fort for months, they died of thirst not cold.  I think temperature was on.  Still, depending on world-gen I imagine a place could get *very* cold.

Try turning temperature off, that may allow you to get the dwarves inside, then you can turn it on again if you like.  Dwarves indoors don't suffer from cold that I know of.

1) No preference - I've never fought the CCS, but I can try!

2) Nightmare Mode - Sounds new and interesting to me.

3) No preference on Founder stats, random is fine.

4) No preference

And don't make me go first, so I can watch other people play this version!

Count me in please!
I'm not familiar with the latest version, but this sounds like a lot of fun.  My avatar will be a total pacifist (at least at first).

Cast an insulation enchantment from the book on my cloak, so I can muffle my pauldron with it later.
[3] You enchant you cloak to block the effects of your pauldron. You then realize you do not have a cloak, and have nothing to cast such a spell on.
enchanter(4/8 exp.)

Oh, well, I meant my robe.  Robe, cloak, large swath of insulating cloth, same thing right?
Can't complain about experience points, though!
Get in ShadowDUMP's chariot and insulate my robe.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Lame artifacts!

I'm not sure if this one is lame, but it sounds like a trap.

"One-humped camel leather short skirt."

Oh wow, you just redeemed this thread a bit.  I chuckled out loud.  Thanks!

Oh nice, very nice!  I have got to pay you back for this somehow.
Cast an insulation enchantment from the book on my cloak, so I can muffle my pauldron with it later.

I'll follow where you lead, SHADOWdump, but if I may suggest the plane of fire?  I imagine my pauldron may protect the both of us if we stay close, since it absorbs my gunfire.
