I don't know why I decided to stick with the BoS. Maybe because Veronica was the NPC that complimented my melee - only playstyle well. Or maybe because having the BoS back to the coolness they were in Fallout 1 compared to the dogooders they were in Fallout 3 made me root for them.
Well, I went for the Yes - Man ending and in my endgame resolution the BoS adopted a new aggressive policy but inevitably faded away eventually. That was for not replacing McNamara with the other guy. Now I think I should have went for the NCR or House endings, since they would probably be more satisfying.
Thats what I mean when I say the story in New Vegas is great. Every major faction you can support has a few valid points and could have well been protagonists. Well, maybe except Legion, though Caesar does give a good speach about the weakness of NCR and democracy, he is crazy and an overall bad thing for the wasteland. House and NCR are both shades of grey.
I personally felt regret when I had to sledgehammer House's elderly frame to do the Yes-Man quest line and while slaughtering NCR troops during the endgame.
I don't think and ending is possible with the optimal results for me:
-ensure the survival of the BoS
-keep House alive as the overlord of New Vegas
-destroy the Legion
NCR ending is probably the closest but House has to bite it there too
