In Bloodlines it said Caitiff are just clanless vampires. They can be in any other sect that will accept them but that mostly mean they can be Anarchs or nothing.

Say I wanted to GM a game of Masquerade(old version). Are there any source books available free on the internet? I'm not asking for torrents but legal material of ran outdated game system(?).

Do you think I could manage GMing knowing mostly just lore from the video games? There is a lot of flavorful dialog in Bloodlines and I enjoy reading it so I started toying with the idea of playing P'n'P.

All I can think of is Mount and Blade, Thief 1 or 2 and Lugaru. If you want good sword fighting mechanics.

Reading your posts makes me want to play the tabletop version... although I haven't played anything tabletop related in years.

Back to VTM:Bloodline though. I started out with the Clan Quest Mod as a Nosferatu, I like their style, stealth most of the time and assbeating when that fails. Also they remind me of the old Kinsky movie vampire which was many times awesomer then the modern bastardation.

As for the mod, I like the changes to the combat mechanics and disciplines. Obfuscate is free of charge so I don't have to stick to the sewers anymore and can just slowly waltz around the streets without masquerade violation as long as I don't bump into anyone. Combat is sick with the P'n'P mod. My fledgling vamp can barely take on a cop. All melee and ranged weapons(including h2h) have a 10 skill point proficiency requirement or else you suck terribly at using them.

What I'm going o do is stick with stealth kills and Obfuscate until I can get Melee and Ranged to 10 with buffs on(Protean and Blood Buff give +3 str +2 dex total). I'll need to carefully pick my skills or else the first bosses will prove beyond my capabilities.

Interestingly: I saw in the youtube promo for the modpack that if you're a Tremere, Strauss gives you a mission to diablerize Jeanette.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DGZzlCSQQc

It sounds... interesting and I wonder how it works out in the end. I'm not going to play Tremere again just to find this out though.

I tried starting out with a Malkavian but not knowing what your character is saying get annoying fast.

I've heard people mentioning this game a couple of times on the forum. I must say I quite enjoyed it. It's very good as an RPG and ok as an action game but terrible as a shooter imho. I didn't complete it because it got repetitive at the end bits. I'm was going to be replaying it this time with intent on finishing when I stumbled upon this interesting sounding modpack: http://www.moddb.com/mods/vtmb-clan-quest-mod

It overhauls the game and seems just what I need to fully enjoy another playthough.

I know the game has huge replayability and that I only played the vanilla version from one clans perspective.(Tremere)

I'm considering choosing either Nosferatu or Malkavian for my second run since those clan bring more new gameplay elements. Other clans like Gangrel or Toreador might be more challenging though.

Share your thoughts about the game and this modpack.

And they should play the TF2 Theme song until it makes them either vomit through their ears or take them off :P

I didn't know, so I gewgled it.

I avoid MMORPGs altogether for the same reason I avoid expensive vices like cigarettes. I'm afraid I will turn out too weak a person to kick the habit if I become addicted.

I should mention Thief 1 & 2, in case your only talking about 3. They rule.

That reminded me. I played Thief 1(multiple times) Thief 2 and Thief 2X(unofficial addon - great stuff) but I never got around to finish Thief 3. I might as well do that now :P  Maybe with some mods though.

I might try Myst. Adventure game usually bored me once I got stuck in a room pixel hunting.

Yeah, I've always wanted less brooding and more broody. WINK WINK.

HaHaHa... I don't get it...

Well, the original Deus Ex was also built on some awful cliches. Like all the conspiracy theories, Knights Templar, New World Order bullcrap, the nanotechnology handwave, a deadly virus etc... It was all there before but in Deus Ex it turned out incredibly tasty when all mixed together.

Same thing with the storyline. If I were to tell someone the story presented in the game it would sound like a low end sci-fi novel written by someone crazy.

AND YET when I played it it immersed me completely. The endgame choice actually made me pause to think what to do.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Maybe you have a point about the brooding main character. The cool thing about JC Denton was(apart from him being a psycho) his emotionless stare from behind the glasses. The guy in the trailer reminds be of the heroes in Square JRPGs, only less androgynous and more western.  :P

I should add Penumbra:Overture to the list. I'm looking for something similar. I picked up Aquaria also from the Humble Indie Bundle maybe I'll try it next.

Going to have some free time on my hands soon.(longest vacation in my life - just finished highschool). I would like to get some recommendations for games to try in that time.

My favorite games are those that allow for free form exploration of a colorful and interesting game world. They should have "rpg elements" in the sense that if you take your time to explore, you will find rewards that will help you later in the game.

If you don't get what I'm saying then here is a list of games I like with exploration like I'm looking for:

Deus Ex(probably the best example)
Stalker
Thief series
Vampire:Bloodlines

I've also played some Elder Scrolls games, Fallout 3 and Arx Fatalis but they didn't enthrall me as much as the earlier titles.

If you know of any game that fits the general picture then please post it in this thread.

Taking out the magnifriers with scythes and locusts was pretty hard. I had to rush in with one of the towers standing to collect soul when Buta charged in with massed Bombards and a Warmonger.

I'm in mission 7 of the campaign with James as my main god. Once I'm finished I'll replay it only Pyro or only Persephone since I've been completely ignoring their missions in my first playthough.

I now kind of regret picking Charnel twice. The only good thing he gave me was animate dead. Netherfiends were so slow I had to stick with the flimsy scythes for melee and they made fighting Butas AOE a real pain.

EDIT: Man, James mission 7 is hard. You have to fight Seerix and she is entrenched like nothing I've ever seen. 5 Guardianed Stixes on the manalith closest to my base of 1. She is very annoying to fight, come with a horde of melee units and uses rainbow to heal.

She lead a massive attack on your altar before you can even harvest the souls from the neutrals that attack at the start of the mission. That gives yo a net of 2 souls(ouch) and a Jabberwocky to defend. I managed to repel her attack once. Grab some more souls and summon a second Jabber and an Icarus but all that got beat down by the Styxes i mentioned.

I'm stuck in the mission with the Pyrodraulic Dynamo. I went Cha-Jam-Str-Cha- and now Jam again.

Question: do the special unit you recive in the beginning of mission depend on whether you keep them alive or whether you choose the proper god?

For my latest mission I get the usual two manahoars + new unit (Icarus) but along with that I get Gammel(super-duper Icarus) and Sirocco(Mother-of-all-dragons, pretty awesome, she joined me after James mission 2 and stayed ever since even though I've been working for Charnel)

I'll upload the map when I can. What you have to do is export the maps image(esc menu option) and then compress the .bmps using DF Map Compressor and then upload the .FDF-MAP file to the DF Map Archive.

If you want the map to have your tileset then you'll have to upload it yourself. If you don't mind it looking like my turn did then I'll upload it.

EDIT: I uploaded the map: http://mkv25.net/dfma/map-8890-skycrushers Please add some points of interest Flaede.

I found some interesting engravings down it what is now part of the magma sea. Including one finely-designed image of a goblin being mortally wounded by "a chalk" :P . I think I recall some goblins waltzing over some stonefalll traps during my reign.
