I like Klackon and other bug races for their awesome production and manufacturing skills.

But I'm playing moo3.

I feel bad for asking this but have you played the original Fallout 1 and 2. If no then I highly recommend you to force yourself though the ancient graphics and to give those two a spin. Your time will be put to better use than replaying F3 with some mods that give everyone huge tits and pink hair or whatever...

If you have played them then please disregard this post as I cannot help you when it comes to F3 replayability. One playthrough was agonizing enough for me personally.

I just got Master of Orion 3 to work on my Samsung NC10 netbook rather smoothly. I'm using the chocolate unofficial patch and no cd mod. The game should be fun to play during travel and boring lectures.

I have failed to balance both intense RL issues and time to make a fortress for this contest. Cross me out from the list  :'(

Very nice interview. Good humor, I genuinely laughed a few times. Choice of topics was interesting.

I really like the concept of randomized megabeasts. Hopefully it will bring up even Blob or the Thing style encounters. Using Titans as the first random creature is cool. Chimeras and Cockatrices would be another good concept for such creatures with mixed pieces from other animals. Golems  could be a base for random Bronze Collosus style opponents.

I can't decide whether to build a massive above ground castle or to keep my dwarves accomodation underground. An underground fortress seems more fitting to the name "Muckgrotto" but it doesn't look as appealing in 3dwarf(which I have never previously used tbh).

All I found was sandy loam and you can't make glass out of that.

EDIT: Oh wait... an aquifer level is yellow sand... woop de doo. I was to busy being annoyed by breaching it to notice what its made of.

EDIT2: So Martin... A glass megaproject? Is that your trap card :D ?

Aquifer breached! Praise the miners! After three restarts finally luck smiles back at me. First year, mid summer, plenty of booze and no casualties.

I've lost all my dogs to the grimeling and fire man and two dwarves to beak dogs. I'll try to keep going but if the settlement turns out too depressed I'll restart.

Heh, there go my megaproject ideas  :P . Anyway I acutally like this map more. It seems far more interesting than a featureless mountain. Do the projects really have to be useful for survival though? They can't be just monumental renditions of the designers ego?

Also is the aquifer really saltwater? In that case is pump desalination considered an exploit?

I couldn't get MOO2 to work on my computer...  :'( Win XP compatibility problems. Free Orion seems mostly unfinished. I acutally enjoyed playing MOO3 for a while.
