While it's true that some mods are essential or intuitive, there is a bit of room for variation. With shotguns you can mod for a wider spread to clear rooms, or a more narrow spread to focus single targets; explosives and flamethrowers have a similar option. Guns with projectile travel time you might choose projectile speed to increase effective range, or opt for more damage at closer ranges. You can also sacrifice some damage to add a silencer, reducing the attention your frame will draw so you can stay alive longer. With snipers you can choose to mod for extra headshot damage if you plan to line up every shot, or just more regular damage if you plan to be spamming body shots.
Overall, the system certainly could have been designed better, but I feel like it does allow for enough variation to be interesting.

Anyway, I recently built Hildryn and Baruuk.

Hildryn can go Ability Duration and strip enemy shields and armor while cleansing ally debuffs, or Ability Strength to create auras that destroy nearby trash mobs while nuking stronger enemies with her unique pistol, or Ability Range to hard-CC large groups of enemies and keep them still for easy headshots. My complaint is that no matter how specialized, none of these options are top-tier compared to other frames. And building a hybrid dilutes her powers to the point they feel pretty weak even in mid-game.

Baruuk can mod for Ability Range and become immune to ranged attacks while also putting rooms of enemies to sleep. With Ability Strength he can disarm lots of enemies, and pull out a melee weapon that shoots projectiles similar to Excalibur, though with a much wider radius. As a crowd-control frame he is somewhat weak; the sleep takes a few seconds to kick in, and breaks when the enemies take damage. His ability weapon is good at clearing trash, but in single-target damage it is significantly outperformed by regular melee weapons; also the ultimate takes time and effort to charge, which can be inconvenient. His most effective option is probably using his high armor and bullet-immunity to play as a survival frame, but an utterly average health pool make this option underwhelming as well.

Wolf assassination missions are up for the next 3 days! Great opportunity to farm his amazing hammer, and probably the last opportunity for a while. Also you can get some Nitain and a cosmetic sigil on the first clears.

Wolf has a ton of health and armor, and is resistant to most elements, and immune to status. It's recommended to bring critical radiation weapons, and/or ways to strip armor without status procs. Valkyr with claws modded for radiation can easily facetank him in her invulnerable ulti. Short of that, you may want to bring someone with a ton of armor, or lifeleech setup because he hits hard.

I... think that's old news? Just reiterated for current events.

You're probably thinking of last year when NYT got ahold of Trump's father's taxes, and exposed the many fraudulent practices that he engaged in.

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2019/05/07/us/politics/donald-trump-taxes.html

The New York Times got ahold of some of Trump's taxes. Not the recent stuff which would potentially show naughty dealings with foreign governments, but taxes from the 80's and 90's. Essentially, he lost more than a billion dollars and thus didn't have to pay any taxes. He only managed to stay afloat by borrowing massive sums of cash from various sources.

KurtzPel recently entered Steam Early Access.

KurtzPel is an anime-styled action game with pvp and pve modes. PvE is akin to monster-hunter, where the idea is to kill one big monster with lots of health and a variety of telegraphed moves.

I haven't played long enough to get much of a feel, other than to say it suffers a bit from being a small studio and early access, but may have some potential. Mild fanservice. Free to play.

And about KOTOR: everyone is clamoring them to be very good Star Wars games, so it's worth a buy.

Games are definitely dated at this point. Roughly 15 years old, and they weren't exactly cutting-edge when they were released.
That said, I found them to be full of lore vastly more interesting than anything found in the movies. Gameplay provided very decent strategic character customization and tactical combat planning. Far from the worst things to come out of the Star Wars franchise.

Another Boeing 737 crashed. I thought we grounded those things already?

Fortunately it had already mostly landed when everything went sideways, so it just slid off the runway and into a river. Everyone got out okay. Still, wtf Boeing...
Edit: RIP pets in luggage compartment.

Well the Barr Senate hearing concluded. It was par for the course, with Republicans using their time to laud his many great achievements and shaming the Democrats for harassing such an honorable man. Meanwhile the Democrats asked about justice and obstruction, which Barr responded to mostly by stalling or redirecting.

Barr did give one interesting response in which he made the case that the President has the constitutional right to obstruct an investigation if he believes that investigation is unwarranted. I'm sure that one will be discussed for a while.

Speaking of EA's popping up on radar, I've had my eye on Pagan Online for the last week, seriously considering buying.

PO is an ARPG in the vein of Diablo and the like. First major notable downside, the Online portion of Pantheon Online is not yet implemented. Which is to say that you have to have an internet connection to play, but there's absolutely no interaction with other players. Co-op PvE is expected to be added soon. Another noteworthy issue is the design decision to use WASD movement, rather than click-to-move. There also seem to be some class balance issues, with some classes being significantly OP and others UP. And the skill tree is apparently a very early pass, with a much more elaborate version in the works.

All of that being said, amongst the mixed reviews seem to be some people having a lot of fun, and it's been far too long since I played a decent game in this genre.

Razorback is up! Chance to earn a tasty blue potato~

In other news, I recently unlocked Garuda and kinda love her. She has high armor, distance-closing abilities, and lifesteals that allow her to play as a very effective Shadowknight. Alternatively one can go full Ability Power and roleplay a Bloodmage, bleeding entire maps of enemies to death, then sacrificing her own health to restore mana and nuke everything again twice as hard! Muah hah hah hah!

While I certainly sympathize with children who received more than their fair share of physical abuse, at the same time I don't think it's a one-sided issue. There are many different types of people in the world, and many types of children with different types of minds. Some learn best by sitting them down and explaining things to them in clear terms. Others will ignore any words you say to them and refuse to change their bad behavior unless they are shown that there will be physical consequences. And, short of expensive and impractical psychoanalysis for every child, there just isn't any practical way for determining what type of parenting is most appropriate for any given child. The best policy we can reasonably implement is to trust the judgement of the people who have spent the most time with the children, their parents.

Has anyone made a life joke yet? No?
Oh okay
I'm currently playing a confusing game called life. Rather stressful and I don't know half the rules. I'd rate it....6/10

Sadly there's only one other game in town. And while it has gotten some glowing reviews, I'm pretty sure those guys have not actually played it yet and are just getting paid to publish lies.
