DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: What's going on in your fort?
« on: August 24, 2010, 11:10:55 am »
I'm watching as my dwarves run back and forth across a 22-tile wide river, that's frozen over. One day, that river will unfreeze, and they'll be having a party on it, and they'll all die.

C'mon bridge, Build faster!!!

Edit: Whew, nobody fell in, and no one is stuck on the wrong side. Lawl, three camels are drowning, though.

Hrmm... This actually seems to be working!

Thank ye very much, kind 3!

Now I can be lazy, and not rip my fingers off in frustration!

I'll also save about three hundred leafs of paper without making my own paper version of Therapist
(I've actually done so before, but for the Chao Garden in SonicAdventure2Battle, but that involved far less information.)

Anyways, Thanks!

There is a good reason >.>
I have 31.12, and Therapist isn't compatible with it. That's why I want 31.10

DF General Discussion / DFG 0.31.10?
« on: August 24, 2010, 07:07:25 am »
I've just recently come back to playing DF after a very long (Year and then some) break from not playing. I've finally gotten my feet back in the right place after being thoroughly confused by these newfangled crutches, splints, and burrows, and now I've run into another problem, this one being I miss my Dwarf Manager.

So does anyone know where I can download a copy of DF Mayday 31.10, so that I can run Therapist with it?

Unfortunately I am a cripple who can only handle dwarves with visible bodies. If they are only a head, I become quite sad.

Creative Projects / Re: Modern History Poster

Oh yeah, also: ANYTHING that happened is fair game.

China, Russia, Germany, America, Norway, Austrailia, Cambodia, Valhalla, Spain.

And thanks for the quick reply, those are all great.

Creative Projects / Modern History Poster
« on: May 13, 2009, 06:40:40 pm »
For my modern history class I need to do an art project that is related to the time between 1910 and 1990. I decided that I wanted to just do a general poster that incorperates all the main symbols of what happened in this time. I haven't even managed to start this project yet and it MIGHT be due... tommorow. So I come here now asking from the bottom of my procrastinating heart, that you might help me think up some symbols to include.

Here is a list of things I have thought up:

Swastika (This is kinda a given, That century was changed drastically by what the Nazis did, and everything that happened ties into it.)

Feminism-Posters (Y'know those "Yes We Can" posters? Not the Obama ones? The Women with the handkerchiefs holding wrenches and such? That's another big part of the american history part.)

Random Ads (Things like car's and such)

Inventions (Stuff that was wrought by the 20th Century)

(Something to do with Gandhi, I dunno what, but something.)

Hiroshima+Nagasaki (Another kinda necessity, along with all of the Manhattan Project.)

Any and all help is appreciated, linking to examples is even better, but not necessary.

Thanks in advance!

Haiku are much hard
Seven syllable word hide
Refrigerator.

The hard part about writing Haikus is finding the seven syllable word.

DF Gameplay Questions / Black Magic Cats?
« on: April 22, 2009, 12:49:56 pm »
I just had a cat adopt one of my dwarves while the game was paused.

In fact I hadn't unpaused the game to this point, and it was still paused during the adoption.

Is this normal?

DF General Discussion / Re: What turns you off about DF?
« on: April 18, 2009, 10:02:09 pm »
The thing that turns me off about the game right now is this:

So you get to the point where the game picks up: 80 Dwarves. Hell Yes.

Blood pumping, siege imminent, here we go!

And then once it DOES get here, the FPS is lowered to the point where it doesn't even get to my door step.

Also, I think it should be impossible to NOT have goblin accesibility.

This happened once, it pissed me off once I found out what happened.

So I was going to clear out an area, and so I started by tweaking away a few small puddles. I figured, hey, dwarves should be smart enough to use landfill anyways.

So at one puddle, a 1x2 of 7/7 water, I tweaked it to have one of the two tiles be 7/7 magma, just for the hell of it.

Then I tweaked it to normal sand, so I was finished...

Later, one of my miners stepped on where I had tweaked the lava into existence....

Apparently I forgot to reset the temperature...

I was wondering why there was smoke and a death message...

Later, one of my farmers stepped on the patch I still hadn't found and fixed, and did the exact same thing...
