DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Reclaiming with 63 dwarves :S
« on: March 25, 2009, 12:22:38 am »
Inaluct, that seems to be the common verdict, but I once reclaimed with 60 or so dwarves, and not an enemy in sight.

(Maybe the GCS was just HIDING)

This also makes no sense, as It was a fortress I lost in the first year (forgot to make farms  :-[ ) So it was rather poor.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Cannot build on outside floor??? (40d4)
« on: March 25, 2009, 12:17:15 am »
I found out what caused this issue.

Earlier, I had assigned about half my dwarves to build the floors. Problem is, many dwarves ended up working on the same title. As a result, each title was overpaved 2-3 times - making they count as a "constructions" !

I'm sorry, but... *Facepalm.jpg*

Don't worry, we were all noobs once.

3 pieces of internet bacon to you!
I'm seriously lacking in megabeasts so far in my travels.

1 dragon on embark, and then one Titan, which my fortress devoured.
(almost literally on the fortress part, my entire fort was drafted (trying to start an anger spiral) when he shows up, walks up to the group, and only wounded like, one, before they jumped and killed him

edit: Also, why is this is the story section? It kinda seems more suited for Dwarf mode section. Unless you're going to turn this into a story.

"You're under 18, you won't be doing any time"

Thats the quote of today.

Also, the mayors aren't ALL dieing, just being replaced everytime one of them goes insane.

*Scurries of to play DF, so I can continue writing*

Honestly? This is my first fort to last 5 years, I usually get bored and start a new by know.

Ok Sonerohi, this is how we do it.

We have a poll, or better yet a series of polls, that would work as a super-psycho-personality test.

Things that would search for who was truely the most dwarfly. Then using these match up the most dwarfly with the least dwarfly of the dwarfly and then breed a group of average-rank dwarves, then cull out the lower class leaving only average and upper. Continue until you have all Five S top ranked dwarves.

This is the fastest way to do it, I know because I've done extensive testing in... *cough Sonic Adventure 2, Battle cough* I learned so much from that game.

Questions could be like, "What is more logical:

1) Create a machine to scan the surrounding area for irregularities to avoid,

2) Hold a gun to god's head until he removes the irregularities.

(I personally think tweak/raw-modding, is much more dwarven than reveal)

*God, I'm sorry about that, but It's the most accurate metaphor I could find*

Still, other people (and me) need to go before we can just start repeating everyone.

(As I play throgh brokensquare, I learn exactly how much fun statues can be!)

Eventually I'll start having random people write entries. As for now, Doctor lynch shall be one of my doctors (does nothing but haul things to the Depot [most dangerous time for patients] and health care)

Lhynch Vicarous shall be his Name.

Editing in another segment:

27th of Sandstone, Mid Autumn, 4th Year

Those fools, another of them went insane. Why bother joining the military if you can't stand to see your friends die in front of you? Now the great "Beastmaster" as they call him has gone stark raving mad! Insane! Kookoo! AND he's followed by his personal army of 8 dogs. Hell, he used to have 12 of the damn mutts, before half of them died. He sobbed like a baby once that battle was over, randomly lashing out like a nutter. He IS a nutter. I can't stand this madness, I'm going to bed.

         -Rigress, Esteemed Mayor of Brokensquare.

25th of Timber, Late Autumn, 4th Year

Another month gone by, and nothing has happened. The Great Feating Hall is completely dug out, and masterpiece statues are being placed inside. We'll probably tear down that Artifact statue in the other dining hall and move it in there. Everything in there must be masterpiece quality. Too bad we don't have more masons with as much skill as I have.

         -Rigress, Esteemed Mayor of Brokensquare.

27th of Moonstone, Early Winter, 4th Year

I am thoroughly convinced that these nimwits will never actually make this fort survive if another wave of goblins survives. This history will never be read, from now on, I will only right notes.
   Org "Beastdweller" has died, insanity

14th of Granite, Early Spring, 5th Year

Elven cavavan arrived, apparently unphased by last year's massacre.

17th of Slate, Mid Spring, 5th Year

   Dwarven Economy Has Started

   Baron Arrived,
   Baron's Consort Arrived,
   Hammerer Arrived,
   Tax Collector Arrived.

22nd of Felsite, Late Spring, 5th Year

   Armorer has become moody.

24th of Felsite, Late Spring, 5th Year

Armorer has begun a mysterious construction

1st of Hematite, Early Summer, 5th Year

Armorer has constructed Dabblingfalls, a legendary High Boot:

*

*Description and artistic rendition. (I always think of High Boots as shinguards, what are they really?)

Edit Edit: I ended up hating this character I created so much, that I stopped RPing him.

I got caught by my history teacher once by ignoring his lecture on the causes for world war 2 ( we were revisiting it in Junior year of highschool) and instead detailing in extreme amount how I was going to acheive my projected goals for my fortress, supplies I'd be needing, a detailed drawing of how my new housing wing would look, projected cost for each room, jobs needed to furnish and smooth each room, jobs needed to complete the whole wing, how many and which workers I'd need, their skill levels (roughly, I don't memorize them) etc. My teacher was a real cynical guy, and when I had to explain the premise of the game to him so he could understand what the hell I was drawing and why I was, he told me to email him a fresh game folder and a notepad file with any advice I'd think he'd need. He still plays and loves the game, and we constantly talk, during class, in dwarf memes that the rest of the class just stares at us blankly. One time we were discussing the Great Depression in a review, and he asked me what I'd think would've been needed to prevent it. I told him that if the economy had been disabled it wouldn't have even been a problem, and he told me that we could've left it on if we based the economy of off goods produced from cats.

We should get married. NAOW.
