General Discussion / Re: Movies and the color blue
« on: June 11, 2010, 02:28:31 pm »
Wouldn't the main tint of blue work against the bluescreening technology? Same goes with green with low enough frequencies short enough wavelengths.

However, as far as I know blue's the most calming color for humans, so...

[1] Bright blue, anyhow, you get 'blue' greyhounds and cats that aren't that top saturation/luminosity, and dolphins maybe if that's not a function of the water colorising them away from the usual grey)

Exotic animals with deeper blue hues do exist. Few examples on Wikipedia's Blue article

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kokoreç

Basically, kokoreç is a dish made of lamb or goat intestines, covered with heart/kidneys from goat/lambs. Delicious, actually.

A lot of meat products made from offal is produced where I live. I love most of them... but one. I really hate it because it smells horrid... (and one other thing, you'll see). It's called Shyrdan and it looks offending.

General Discussion / Re: On the Topic of Atheism
« on: March 04, 2010, 01:19:32 pm »
What this person needs to understand is that Atheists DO NOT HAVE A RELIGION.

Atheists are NOT a group.  They are NOT an organization.  Atheism isn't even necessarily a worldview.  It's just a word used to describe people.  Heck, try replacing the word "atheist" with "blonds" or any other arbitrary group connected only by one (relatively small) similarity.

As I've said before; that from the outside, two circle-jerking groups of douchebags from both the theist camp and atheist camp looks almost the same on the internets and in real life. Now, I'm NOT SAYING THAT ATHEISM IS A RELIGION, nor organized etc etc, just pointing out what I've seen.

Adding more to the fact that it's a fad amongst the "angsty teens" as a cause for rebelling (if there's an all-powerful god, makes sense to rebel that entity [tying back to the father figure]  instead of your school board or whatever smaller authority figure) kinda actually damages the image of the cool-headed individuals amongst atheists, with increased circle-jerking groupings of douchebags. Same happens on this side of the pool as well, though.

I can see why Idiom's so gung-ho about this, but it's not the best way to approach a subject. Past scars from internet debates sounds kinda silly if you think about it :) And yes, I have some too.

Rational's a change, which is good. There will be irrational people spewing obscenities if this continues, anyhow.

hai guise wutz goin dwon hear?

English isn't my native tongue. I've got drilled with 'the difference between their/there/they're' etc so much that I cringe every time I see those. But I can't blame the native speakers, they sound almost the same anyhow and they learned the language as speech patterns first, unlike me.

Meh, drawing dinosaurs gave too little XP for me, even with mingling with robotics. Took me 10 years to level up to dragons. Also, Jurassic Park was a big enough fad for my age to lure every child to dinosaurs. Big, scary, awesome monsters that are real? Living in this age? Yes please. It snowballed to this day quite easily.

Aaaaaaaaaanyway, Axe Cop is awesome. I reject any other reality and substitute it for my own. BRB buying axe.

General Discussion / Re: Weird dreams and their further ramifications
« on: March 02, 2010, 06:30:15 pm »
I've had dreams in which things that came true, dreams about about flying, being inanimate object(s), animal(s), other people, all the weird stuff. What gets me is to see the same dream more than once. Least bizarre one; I was skate(or possibly hover)boarding in a giant tube. I missed the exit, and then get crunched veeeeery visually between two huge gears. Then I proceeded to see the same thing two (actually four, two was another dream with gears.. gah) more nights. Still scares the crap out of me.

I've actually have had dreams were I've gotten baned from the forums.

Twice.

One upping this: I've dreamed that I saw an old accomplice from a gaming forum getting banned on a completely irrelevant forum about gardening or something.

Ha, and I remember your nickname, but your avatar was different, I think.

*The chilling effect from Idiom's post hits you for 40d18 damage.*

As for respect for beliefs; why? I mean the people behind them deserve respect, but don't beliefs have to earn that?

I guess what really matters is to respect others' the right to believe. Acting out of that belief is the sketchy part. This goes both ways, obviously. Also, I confess; being a religious person, I don't get 'attacks' from my religion, and I can scoff other religions' advances off. Thus the atheist 'attacks' are more apparent and pronounced.

Anyway, basing Occam's razor (or pure logic) on conundrums of life and philosophy isn't always valid, as we humans are prone to making illogical acts, theist or atheist alike. What is considerate as a human being is to respect your choice of life as long as it doesn't affect mine, and not to affect your points of view out of the blue.

This doesn't happen always; sadly the abortion issues etc are good examples. And when it comes to those sketchy issues, I tend to support logic, and will make my case on it, but I will not push the issue too hard to break the person(s) in the conundrum. I wish I could get the same from everyone, but I know it won't be that way.

TL;DR: Don't try to be Doctor House, scenarios don't work in real life that well. Live and let live works quite well for day to day life, fringe cases are not generalizations, but oddities etc etc etc.

More popcorn time.
