DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Cookable_live question
« on: March 28, 2009, 06:44:52 am »
Erm. COOKABLE_LIVE, as far as Wiki says, only works for Kitchens, not butchers...

Well, wiki doesn't say anything about turtles getting cooked... maybe because they're vermin. And you've made your elven slaves vermin, too. Hmm.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Getting back to embarkation?

I've got me some NEMESIS UNIT FAILs in DF after save scumming, so Imma gonna blame it.

This holds ESPECIALLY true if you're using an utility to edit the values. Save it, remove the save, ALWAYS keep a copy of the worldgen.

48
Step-by-step instuctions on how to post screencaps of DF on the forums:
1) Open your DF copy.
2) Load your save.
3a) Hit alt+print screen if you're using windows
3b) Hit apple+shift+4 (if I recall correctly) and press space once. Click on the DF window. Or, apple+shift+3 if you're playing full-screen. Go to option 4b)
3c) On Linux and whatnot, you have to bind a key to take a screencap. Beats me how to, but if you're into Linux, you'll prolly figure it out. As far as I google'd, it automatically creates pics for you, so go to 4b)
4a) Create a new picture file, in windows, by right clicking in your DF folder and selecting the Bit Map Picture option. Right click the created file, open with paint, ctrl-v the picture. Save the picture AS PNG, exit paint.
4b) Your operating system will create a picture file for you atuomatically, locate it (on Macs, it should be on the desktop, no idea about Linux)
5) Go to a free website which you can upload (and link from) pictures. http://www.imageshack.us/ is what came to my mind at first.
6) Upload the file, then copy the link from the resulting page.
7) Log on to the forums, locate the thread you found, and paste the link
8 ) ???
9) Profit.

I have to pass on signing up, time constraints and social drinkin'... but here's a bump, wishing for an awesome ride.

Edit: Next sunday and thereon I'll be free... maybe if the fort lives, I'll be up.

Does it happen at every season change, with NEMESIS UNIT LOAD FAILED message?

I'd like an in-game screenshot, actually. It'd show the contrast between angles and the general blockiness of the game better.

I like the shading, but... doesn't frogs have a bigger lower jaw? :P Also, teeth on frogs - not so rad, imo. Don't take me wrong, though, I like the shading and the general style, especially the boots on the drow.

Wish I could use PS or openCanvas better, I'm stuck with both to get what I want, and that kinda kills oC's whole replay mode for me.

That's mostly because the most hardcore of WoW players are culturally illiterate and associate everything from WoW with WoW and nothing else, even if it came from something else and was shameless shoehorned in.

You're just doing what you accuse WoW players of doing - you're generalizing them in the culturally illiterate group, just as you say they'd categorize everything along with WoW.

I've ridden the high horse of end-game WoW (Check Musluk on EU realms,  if you don't believe it, and find someone to translate what the gear on my character means), and quit it, not out of it's boorishness, but because I didn't want to stop socializing with my friends in real life. Due to my job, I still have to use computers, A LOT (8 hours a day, plus whatever I do at home). And lemme tell ya, there are people in the 11 million subscriptions that do keep their (cultural) life and WoW together, along with the usual retards.

I get it, you don't like WoW, you don't like one of your classics (either childhood or young adult, I presume from the rashness) getting accused of being wow-like, but, dude, chill. If you have to lash out at WoW players at a random mention, on a non-wow related forum, it's not WoW's fault, or the playerbase's fault.

Any WoW player would identify those as gnome warriors riding racial mounts.

Well, then it's a simple matter of finding those addresses, and updating it, just like any other version.

Hell, I'd probably do it if I had a clue how.

"As it seems, the memory locator does not report the checksum to use, but the error message does. Try to put the reported checksum into the checksum field as shown above. The checksum is used to identify which memory layout to use. If it works, please post your values/the xml-snipped here."

From the DF thread itself. Too sleepy to solve it atm... anyone sane and sober enough can decipher it?

Zelda doesn't remind me of the game itself anymore, it reminds me of this. And the set looks nice, going to try.

Close Encounters with the Fifteenth Kind - a novelization of the play originally staged by Urist McSpielberg, this tale tells us about yet another denizen of this world - tentacle demons.

In-game screenshots would be better, imo. Too many angles for my poor eyes, but people might like it.

New version, new memory addresses.
