I recognize posters more by avatars than by name, mostly due to the fact that many forum names are not easy for me to say, so I can't remember them well.

Aside from that, since this is the internet, I refuse to believe that the avatar has any connection to the poster or post, same thing I do with any ads.  It's all just flashing lights and colors to me anymore.

General Discussion / Re: So apparently, I am hearing impaired

oh god stay away with the logarithms from me

I spent the last 3 days learning nothing but

damn university making me repeat the crap that I didn't learn the first try

Hehe.

Learn mind-slave!  Learn!

I remember when I had to take calculus - I damn near failed calc I & II, despite math being my strong point in the past.  Then, in calc III, the professor finally told us what the bloody hell calculus was and it all made sense at long last. -_-

Life Advice / Online Dating (and offline as well, I guess)
« on: November 02, 2009, 05:41:07 am »
So, what all with me being a socially impaired nerd, I figured I give the online darting thing a try.

Thing I've started to notice, however, is that i can't take it in any way seriously - in essence, when I try to send someone a message on one of those sites, it ends up reading like most of what I post here; rambling and a bit goofy.

So, I never get replied to.

Well, that's either because of that or I'm just that terrible to behold.  :P

Seems like IRL I'm just to shy, and online I'm just to oddball, to converse with new people.

It's just getting bothersome, I tell you.

Doesn't help any that most of my RL friends are of the opinion that "sex isn't that great and girls aren't worth the trouble", so I can't count on any social help from them.  Fine enough for them to think that, but I'd rather have the option to make up my own mind on the matter. -_-

I don' know, but I just gotta do something.  I'm starting to get stir crazy.

Went out to a club with some folks from work.  Was good enough, but the one girl I was trying to get in some dance-time with was monopolized by one of the shift managers - and it turns out he was being a drunk, aggressive jerk about it, but none of us knew till just about closing time.

Had I been a bit less passive, I might have been able to help.

Then we were going to go to an after-party, but one of the guys I was driving suddenly got way depressed and we had to take him home, and that pretty much killed the evening.

But, at least I was on the dance floor a little, which is an improvement for me.

But, hey, anything for a reason to play in a cheap way to screw the game right back. ;)

Hm, i've never tried Lich OR Claymore before. I might go with this, IF i can switch out Vampiric for Tough or Lady Killer.*

Swapping out Vampiric is cool, especially if you add it latter... hehehe.  Ladykiller would be best for the big-party concept, obviously.

I'd build at least 1, if not 2, firestorms.  If nothing else they can give you better response time and you won't have to worry about missing a UFO because of waiting on the primaries to return/refuel.

The infantry seems to be doing good, but the tanks seem to go down to easy, so upgrading them would be a priority for me.

Hrm.

If it's an option, I'd vote to prep another base somewhere in SE asia, geared for production/offense, or at least for more radar coverage in the region.

Offense wise, those alien grenades look like FUN.

I keep making excuses to not find out if a girl at work is single or not, even though I've asked about others.  Plus I have some reason to think she may be single..

Yet I keep being so wishy-washy about it.

And that makes me a Sad Panda.

Well, the problem on that large of an impact is that it can turn both bodies molten from the forces involved.

So far as I know, no life form can cope with Magma World.

So, to small and the impacter gets too hot, to big and the planet melts.

While I can accept that some of the chemicals needed for life could have been seeded via impact, I find the evidence for life itself to be pretty damn slim and dubious.  Best I've read of were some rocks from space that had fossil bacterium (or just the remains of such) on them, but I never found any information on why those fossils could not possible have come from terrestrial sources.
