After a number of worlds, I'm reasonably sure that it randomly picks a side to be Hallow and for the other to be Corruption/Crimson. Most of those were done prior to the 1.2 update however so there may have been some changes.

Terrarias has been by setting the OS clock since the xmas event. Whether that will change now that new patches are coming out is unknown but I suspect it will remain the same.

The Corruption/Crimson/Hallow spread starts off fast in hardmode and is slowed after killing Plantera. Haven't had a chance to see how sunflowers work in hardmode now, but unless you have been careful they will just be bypassed underground.

More balance on the crossbow in last nights patch.
Reduced damage from 75 to 50
Lower reload time from 3 seconds to 1.5 seconds

So lower single hit damage but higher damage over sustained fire. Have to wonder if it has also reduced the healing done on teammates by the same amount.

Welp, just had this unicorn hat drop for me, and then the server crashed.

Also a bit annoying that all the Halloween costume drops are untradable, so no easy way to get the sets you want.

Edit: ah crash looks like it was due to new update that supposedly fixes the stability issues on the event map.

Although it's not on the big list of games Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition is on sale at 75% off. I've enjoyed both Fallout 3 and New Vegas, though if you only have the funds for one, New Vegas is probably the better to pick.

Edit: Checking the specials tab off the main page shows a lot of games heavily discounted that aren't on the big Halloween list so it looks like quite a few other deals are on.

Soldier and Merasmus keep getting a lot of screen-time in these comics, which is great and all, but I'd like to see the rest of the team get some spotlight. Hell, Sniper's not shown up for anything past that Director comic, far as I can remember, and Medic hasn't been in any.
Medic makes an appearance in the Shadowboxers comic from the time of the introduction of the Engie-bot, as does the rest of the team.

Still Soldier does get the most screen time of the actual team, followed by Demo and Engineer. The comics seem to focus more on the non-team characters.

Also link to the current comic for those to lazy to go find it themselves. :P

But yeah, the true final boss of Terraria is the dreaded biome spread, consuming it piece by piece until none of the pristine original exists.  So you can either build a fully detached floating station with as many biome samples as you can get and contain (Norn ship, anyone?), or try and save chunks of the world in their natural formation by isolating and decontaminating them.

i heard about putting 5 blocks deep and 3 blocks wide barriers in the limits between the spread and the biome you want to defend, others say about doing huge walls down to the base of the map. the floating island idea sounds better BTW. but i dont know if biomes like desert, ice and ocean can be recreated. dungeon never changes but there should be a way to protect the underground jungle since its the only source for chlorophyte as far as i know.

The only biomes that can't be recreated are the Dungeon, the Temple and spider nests. While Chlorophyte will only initially spawn in the Underground Jungle, once you have a sample it will grow anywhere in mud with light below the zero height level.

talking about floating islands, are their unique blocks craftable? or i have to actually destroy parts of the biome for gathering them?
Not craftable so far. If you want to keep the floating island biome intact, harvest the blocks from other worlds.

Isn't that basically how non-turreted weapons work now, with their tracking speed being limited to move speed? I always got the impression that railguns and the like were spinal mounted.
Their tracking speed is limited to move speed or your base turret tracking speed if that's higher, so they do have some maneuverability even if they aren't turreted.
Not quite, it is limited to the base fire-control speed not the base turret speed.

One thing I've found with the spinal mounts is that while they give you a single big damage weapon, you can't really take advantage of their increased range unless your fire control base range tech is 2-3 tech levels above your laser tech. Still I've been experimenting with them and come up with a couple of designs for fairly cheap "flying lasers".

The last post referring to Halloween on the tf2 blog on 18th September was 1000 hours to go until the Witching Hour which would put it on Monday/Tuesday, which is when I suspect the event will start.

2) How would I make a task group with freighters and a tanker refuel from the tanker if they need to?

As of when I last checked, there is no automated way of having ships refuel from tankers within the same taskgroup. You have to do it manually as indicated above.

The way around it that I found is to place the tanker in it's own taskgroup and use the escort orders to have it follow the freighters. By doing this, and giving the freighters the conditional order to refuel at tanker, the freighters will see the tanker as a valid refuelling point. You do need to keep an eye on it as if the tanker needs to return to a colony to refuel the freighters can be left with no refuelling point within reach if they need to refuel while the tanker is gone.
