DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: So why...

I'm thinking it must be the dwarfy equivalent of gold plated guns

If we could make guns, they would do that already I assume

Shameful self bump, but for good reason!

Im just requesting more ideas and stuff that you would like to have implemented!
Due to my lack of originality thanks to work draining my brain, thats why I make this request. Send any ideas you have to my email at

So why is it frightening/disturbing that I can come up with that?
When it comes time to kill the unlucky dwarves, close all the hatch covers in the good dwarves' cells, and then turn on the pumps. The cistern will flood, filling the prisoner's cell.
This is horrifying hilarious because the well, previously a source of life, is what will ultimately kill the dwarf. Plus, cleanup is a whole bunch easier.

Not you, Opirian.  I was referring to Lymojo.  It's amazing the sadistic, torturous ideas people come up with just because these little guys are just bytes...especially the horrors committed against elves...crimes against humanity anyone?

sorry wasn't paying attention just kinda out of it lately

When did we get onto punching through aquifers?

First Idea:
Instead of giving them a farm plot, you should set a food stockpile. On the level above, dig a hole and set a dump zone over it. When the prisoner is good, mark some food for dumping and the guards will drop it down.

Second idea:
Presumably you'll have a large cistern below all the cells in order to feed the wells. Let's say each well is at z=0, you should put an empty chute below it in z=-1, and then have your cistern at z=-2.
Then, put lever-operated hatch covers in the z=-1 level (the empty chute level).

Then, feed the cistern with pumps that are located at z=0.

Plus, cleanup is a whole bunch easier.

thats not a half bad idea, I shall do that instead.
Well upon digging a tunnel into the side of the mountain, erm hill I breached an aquifer and it is now flooding the valley below my fort. :-\ ;D

That's when. :P  (it's the third message in the thread)

Nice suggestions, though.  Somewhat frightening/disturbing that you could come up with them, also.

I think you're being sarcastic. Or stupid. Or something. I hope that was a joke because I have utterly no idea what you're talking about.

Have the miners play that when they go on break for like the 200th time this month.

Im going to go with stupid, as I got back from a ren faire just now and I am tired as all hell. If you could write a script for a wagon, foam, bridge comic thats what I was talking about, and PM it to me or if you need my email. That way everyone else will be surprised.

204
It's rock paper scissors. Only wave wagon drawbridge.
Now if you can PM me the script, that'd be great =P

Im just going to create an artificial lake out of my valley and link all mountains VIA bridge.

As for the punching through the aquifer one of my other forts has  a successfully punched through double aquifer

206
Shouldn't it be "First week, and we already have a soapmakerRedshirt!"
But Olin is in green O.o

and as for the line, I was just quoting the idea given to me >.>

How about a game of Wagon, Sea Foam, and Drawbridge?
Wagon beats drawbridge, which beats sea foam, which beats wagon.
WE MUST USE THIS IN THE SPRITE COMIC.
YES. YES WE MUST DO THAT, ME.

Oh thats going to be fun implementing *thinks*

I got this idea from another thread.

I will have 5 dwarfs placed in 3x3 cells, with one bed, 1 well, 1 1x1 farm tile, 1 Stockpile, and a dining room setup. 2 doors on either side, 1 leading to magma, the other leading out of the room to another isolated 4x4 room containing a workshop and a staircase leading down to a storage for a particular material. That room would also have a doorway, allowing the dwarves to transfer their completed goods to a stockpile.

Their cells would be placed inside of a pit and their rooms covered with Glass ceilings or something of the sort, with only 1 natural cave tile above the farm allowing the growing of underground crops. Above the cells will be 2 levers 1 that releases magma, and one that sends them to their workshop.

The whole operation will be overseen by the other 2 dwarves most likely my miners. If work is unsatisfactory, they will pour magma on the particular dwarf. If work is good they will be rewarded with booze and a meal different from what they grow. When migrants arrive the already prepared room for their demise will be opened and the foolish dwarves head straight for the meeting area inside to be burned alive.

Or if I'm feeling nice they will be added to the list of occupied cells and turn out goods. Also they may be added to the military and protect the slavery operation. But the most unfortunate of my niceness will build something only to die later.

Well the poll is closed and it looks like I will be doing both. From now on  I will only give a poll if I can't decide which input to use. Now suggestions will be made as they are provided if I deem they fit the story/arc, and funny enough.
