No, no, no. Urist, Urist, Urist, Urist, Urist, Urist and Olin, but the others call him Urist to avoid confusion.

No, let he last one be named Olin, but then one of the others says "freak"


Or Urist, Urist, Urist, Urist, Urist, Urist and Olin, and then one of them says "Urist?! What kind of name is "Urist"?

I posted another thread on this but here I want to actually start the comic truly
It's a sprite comic as the title says.

I'm horrible at humor, so I thought why not let the community decide.

So here I am asking for input from the DF community on making a funny comic that will start out with the original 7 heading to the location for their fort. You write the script I'll make the scenes.

Just an FYI it is a single frame comic.

If you keep at this (and I hope you do)  you ought to make a tileset from your comic.  It'd be huge, granted,  but It'd be the first tileset I'd use.

Well I'm actually making the scenes in RPG Maker VX which has 32 bit graphics, so I don't think making a DF tileset from it would work well.

Well then, in an attempt to make it funny, I'll take community suggestions. You guys write the script, and I'll make the scenes.

Well after seeing so many DF comics, I thought I'd make my own of sorts.
I'm not an artist so I took an easy medium: sprites.

So here is my poor attempt at a DF sprite comic: Dwarven Trail (some sorta mix between DF and oregon trail... okay not really just the name)

I plan to make it single frame, and for the first part to follow the actual journey to their fortress location. Comments are appreciated.

I usually stave off hunger with a 8x8 farm plot underground for nothing but plump helmets, and above ground several 3x3 farms consisting of fruit local and other wise.

After I establish my farms I pretty much forage anything with in 2 [shift] moves from my entrance. After that's done I build a still and a kitchen, forbid any one kind of alcohol I decide to make plenty of, and then mince the others into muffins and such, also I forbid some plants from cooking. I set the carpentry to start churning out barrels and the brewers to brew.

In the case of a glacier map, trading is my friend and I request seeds and plump helmets. Also I have a habit in areas with low natural food sources, I bring 2 cows, and 2 other animals just for breeding along with a cage, I let them breed, cage their children till they grow, and when I have a danger of shortage or a need for bones straight to the butcher they go.

But that's just a couple ideas.

Well I'm running 40d11, and it freezes up for hours on end sometimes whenever I try a custom seed

I have 1gb or ram and a 2.4 ghz processor in the thing so I don't think it's a performance issue or else it would freeze during normal generation as well.

I've attempted to make a Desert world with few pockets of water, lots of magma, and few trees... yet everytime I start the generation my DF freezes up... so I figured I must be doing something wrong with the seed, can anyone give me a seed for such a place?

same with anything that causes the list to disappear so pretty much "AKDNKLADNKAN Electrum" displays that too.

Elves tend to be mad at me for using all porpoise flour... I can't help it the damn dolphins are so tasty.

What other not yet possible in fortress things do you think elves would get mad at?

I'd have to agree with the emergency plant gathering if you have any. Also make another fisherdorf.

Honestly though I have no other solutions as I've never had a hunger problem as I constantly watch my food/booze stocks and start production when any drops below my # of dorfs, and food is usually on constant grow with no plots taking a break to grow but they are in a cycle where there's almost always something ready to pick.
