DF Gameplay Questions / Re: I Have Some Questions

Soup: I believe it only applies to N/S/E/W.

Erlend: Pickaxes, you mean? you need some metal and a forge to make em. :D

Well, I mean, I was putting them up fast enough that they shouldn't have, but hey, who knows?

IIRC, so long as there is a male of the species on the map, an uncaged female can get pregnant. However, I wouldn't quote me on that one.
That's probably it, there's no other reason I can think of, as I know that different species cannot breed with eachother, and I doubt that their babies were getting them pregnant. :P
But I did hear that dwarven incest was possible, woo woo!

Yeah, it isn't compatible with 40d, which sucks, I was wanting to use it tonight. :c

No wild bears on this site, these bears are modded to be pets and tameable, I love me some BEAR CALVARY!

DF Gameplay Questions / Assuming animals in cages can't get pregnant-
« on: March 26, 2009, 06:56:54 pm »
And assuming they can't make another animal pregnant either...
Well, I had a Black Bear and a Grizzly Bear chained up outside my fort, both were females, yet both kept getting pregnant and having babies, despite ALL my animals aside from a few named ones(a Polar Bear, a Cat, and a Dog) being in a cage.
wtf was going on there, mating by telepathy?

You could put all your questions in one post, y'know.
Anyway, that's a silly question, you can murder them any way you want to, but if you just want them butchered, you need a butchers shop, and then you go to the z>Animals(I'm pretty sure that's it, dahaha.) menu and mark the ones you want butchered.
Now if you want to do it differently, try magma!

Dwarves won't share tables while they are using them, so no, only one chair per table unless you like useless chairs.

Mm, the website is what's not accepting it, the map compressor DOES give me a few certain errors, most of which concerned the tiles and the size of the screen. :P

Smew, define "too big".  I thought DFMA supported any map that DF could output!
Well, it's literally telling me that the filesize of my map is too big, I suspect this has to do with me using a tileset and a smaller resolution than the tileset is made for.

Anyway, my current fort is too big to upload, sux to be me. D:

Edit: I take all that back.

You can't channel the very edge of the map, so no.

this is the reason im getting an alienware PC :P
Alienware won't handle this any better than a computer you build yourself, and the computer you build yourself will be cheaper in any case.
But hey, to each their own!

X=walls, x = engraved walls, S = statue, C = chair, T = table, I = pillar, V = vertical bars, W = waterfall. Space is floor.
You should engrave those back walls before you put the statues in! :D

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Dwarves naming local "monsters"
« on: March 25, 2009, 01:11:00 am »
Enemy animals get names after killing a dwarf(or whatever race you are playing as), I assume that this goes for any race that can't name themselves normally.
Ally animals get names after killing an enemy civ unit, I think, or perhaps after getting a kill, not sure.
