If you notice the ACTUAL issues in LCS aren't biased. They are factual.
I'll have to look into that when I get back from work. >.>

The gun control forcing the police and military to use "non-lethal" force is interesting, think about how a war would be fought if one side only had tazers and tear gas :D

It can be done.  Where there is a will, there is a way. Research and development.  The good news, most civilian casualties will be a thing of the past.
The bad news.  Animals and the ecosystem around the warzone... will probably get screwed up... >.>

Non-lethal electrical stun grenades, pepper grenades, rubber grenades and sleeping gas.  High spread and high potency.  Liberally applied.  Insurgents using civilians as a defense... won't work as well.
Flash bangs too.
Darts / low-impact bullets with strong electrical charge or anesthetic.  Don't think of it as a battle...  think of it as big-game hunting!

Come to think of it... seems more interesting to develop multitude of ways to apply non-lethal force in a combat situation...  Oh how it can be abused.

Surrender peacefully or be stunned, disoriented and blinded multiple times.  If you want to fight, I'll make sure you won't die.  I'll personally make sure of that.

Only problem is the after-effect... prisoner management...  oh so many.

The idea here isn't to make the enemy die for their cause.  Its to make them suffer for their cause.

EDIT: Behold!

Is there any way to still get creatures 3? I checked the site and the shop appears to no longer exist.(takes me to a blank page instead)

If you don't mind paying, gog.com has the entire series.
Creatures 3 and Docking Station: http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/creatures_exodus
Creatures 1 and 2: http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/creatures_the_albian_years

Blurgh... last year or so... I was looking for ways to obtain this game....  this should do, thanks.

The only issue with the name is that people might confuse it with Crusader Kings: Deus Vult. I like where you're going with this though, the first person view and combat looks extremely promising.
QFT

Yea, thats what I thought all this time...  make this game name a bit more unique....  Only looked in here cause I was curious about what sort of mod people are working on for the CK:DV game...

Otherwise.. a game similar to M&B?  Get.

Racial Discrimination
C+: People are employed by their own merits without the need to adhere to arbitrary restrictions.
L+: Anti-discrimination has made it so non-whites are more likely to get jobs they are not qualified for due to fear of discrimination charges.
L++: Anti-discrimination laws are so strict that it actually discriminates against white people.

Er... actually, your L++ would be C++...
Think of Africa and it's apartheid system at one point. It discriminated against the population majority, the blacks.

Discrimination is discrimination. You can't have anti-discrimination laws that wrap back around to negative numbers. That's just silly.

Malaysia is C++ lol, we have discrimination laws in place to protect the malay majority! yes, companies, by law, must hire a certain number of malay workers, large companies must have at least 1 malay company director, etc etc etc.

Sure you can.  Sensationalize and popularize it enough and some politicians will put pants on their head and ride with it without looking at the consequences.

But, its for the CCS right?  Why would they say that they are discriminating against the minority?  Or favoring the majority?
Merits by play of definition can be pretty open. >.>

And the L++, its more of a fear of what could happen under liberal dominance.  As the CCS Founder... what would you be more afraid of?  What are you more likely to believe and act to counter?

Anti-discrimination laws are so strict that it actually discriminates against white people.(Or majority/dominant race)

vs

It is illegal to refer to anybody by their race.

Ships do have a PPV value in their summaries. I think it's pretty straightforward. A planet's actual protection level (APV) is the sum of the PPV of all the ships currently in-system. For instance, each of my Cossack-II frigates has a PPV of 30: I've 6 of them in Sol, so the APV of all colonies there is 180.

But how PPV itself is calculated? Not the foggiest idea.

Military rating from race details... more militaristic your people are... the more they want war ships...  (Read this somewhere, no tests or backing to support this statement)
Population on planet obviously.
???
Thats all I know...

And yea, planets never suffer unrest from my experience.  I've once gone for a few years without military ships....

More reality based, in my opinion... plus its a more fearful outcome then It is illegal to refer to anybody by their gender.

Women:
C+: For safety reasons, women are not allowed to work under any condition deemed to be dangerous.
L+: Anti-discrimination has made it so woman are more likely to get jobs they are not qualified for due to fear of discrimination charges.
L++: Anti-discrimination laws are so strict that it actually discriminates against men.

Why have L++?  Just knock it down to L and L+...   >.>   The C+ I put in would be equal to your L++....   if that is your intent.

(I don't get why people keep using L+ and L++....  Well I do, its due to coding.... but its confusing....)

I mean, hell, they even ripped off the Darkspawn designs from the Prince of Nothing series by Scott R. Bakker. Both the Darkspawn and the Consult are mainly made up of pale-skinned hairless humanoid near unthinking creatures that wait for a great master to come and rally them to conquer the world. Oh, and they're supported by a bunch of other near-unthinking monsters such as ogres / bashrag ( both have close to the same description / looks ) etc etc.

Actually, that's a pretty cool twist. Very interesting when you take into account the "You are the Chosen One" nonsense that exist in other JRPGs; the Consult/Darkspawn waiting for some Ubermsench to save them are really just the same as the good guys waiting for the some other Ubermsench to deliver them from the Consult/Darkspawn.

Actually...
At least thats the impression I got.  The darkspawn are actually better then the 'good' guys in that regard.

I never had problems.  You are doing this in the Task Force screen?

Create New TG, Rename TG, Delete TG at the bottom left.

You can transfer ships from the 2nd tab from the left.
You should also be able to do it from the task group window, by changing the task force in the dropdown but it doesn't save your changes.

I've only ever bothered to do it in the Task Force screen(the one where you give your Task Groups orders...)  It hasn't caused me any trouble.

You folks can bring that problem up as a bug on the Aurora forums.

I'm pretty sure we established that internal armor DOES work on mesons. I think it is in the aurora forums.
Meson Overpowered Thread

Unless there is another discussion about it that I missed?

EDIT: Hell, I'd plaster that stuff all over my hulls too if it did.
Just out of curiosity, is anyone having trouble with making new task forces? Since the last 2 patches I haven't been able to assign ships to new task forces. I click the dropdown and select the new task force, but as soon as I go back into the menu, it's reverted to the old one. Its not really a problem at the moment since I don't have a great deal of TGs but once I start expanding further its gonna be a hassle trying to train military ships

Precursors don't expand and populate.  But they exterminate.

Area defense occurs during the normal weapons fire segment while final defense occurs during the movement segment when the missile(s) should intercept their target. If the missile can cross the engagement range of a PD beam during a single movement then it will not be engaged.

Yea, guess my speculation is a very round-about way of saying the same thing you just said here.

@Greiger: Didn't we establish that internal armour doesn't work against Meson?
In summary... a quote from the Aurora forums along the lines of: "If internal armour stopped Meson fire, I'd plaster that stuff all over my hull."

The arena battles for me aren't bad because I actually put points into athletics. I can run away from the champions with a bow.

Thats more then 4 or 5 Athletics?

Well, its worse with crossbow, but at least you get a sword with it.  Which I end up defaulting to in most cases except vs other xbow/bow user at range.  Crossbow is pretty durn accurate at low levels.  Especially when both you and the enemy arn't moving around...

guys... how does the Point Defense (SFC)???  "area defense" etc selection work in game???

I thought it was automated but apparently.. i cant get it to automate itself now.

I could have sworn i had this working in my last game!!!

I have my fire control selected with eccm, then select the "area defense" option and hit assign... with a correct range selected.

it sets the turret to Area Point Defense, but it keeps letting missiles fly through without targetting...

Yes they are ready to fire.

what the hell am i missing?

I had that problem myself.  Basically I'm in a jumping around different games mode right now... so eh, no proper explanation.  (Plus I'm not searching Aurora for explanation either..)

Area Defense didn't seem to work... but my speculation:

It may be that it fires after the missiles move?  Which is too late in most cases... especially against really fast missiles and having a short range...  Didn't give too much attention to it since I was trying to manually aim at the same time with my lasers and torpedoes.

As for PD and self PD, they work, but only as a Final Defense, shoots just before getting hit.  So it has initiative there...

There's a topic about that on the Aurora forums. In it, Steve explains most things about ground combat and boarding actions, as per recent changes. But he doesn't mention how stuff like engineer and replacement units work.

That info is found elsewhere.

Engineers can act as 1 Construction building.  They are the size of 5 normal troops.  So you need a troop transport with 5 Troop Bays to move 1 Engineer group.  Primary use is to excavate ruins you find on planets.

Replacement units.... basically replenish normal troop numbers.  If I remember right, its a little faster then letting Troops auto replenish themselves..
Fairly moot since Steve hasn't fixed things relating to it yet (last I checked).  You can actually drop off depleted Troops onto an astroid and they would somehow replenish themselves from nothing overtime.

MOAR MOAR MOAR MOAR EDIT: Ok, won the game. That was way easier than I thought. My leader had initially stats and skills fit for a lawyer, recruited hippies to the cap and had them write for the Guardian. Then he sprayed graffiti, and whenever caught, defended himself in the court. He also financed all operations by selling portaits. In the end he had about 200 juice. Possibly the weakest leader I've ever had, but ah, still so strong! Perhaps I should try again in conservative nightmare mode. Death squads can be a problem though.

How did you get your leader to 200 juice? Don't legal actions have a juice cap of 50 or something?
Indiscriminate liberation of the yoke of life on a massive scale in the crack houses.

EDIT: Oh right... Ghandi squad...  and legal?   Nevermind that.

Could be the Graffiti, I never do that myself.... but that could be it.  A slow process.
