You can always start in an older version and copy the save. And the embark limitations are not fun, why not allowing people to start anywhere? They will just have more fun (lose a lot more)!

How "older" the version have to be?  ;D

Size 9!? Dude, DEER are size 5. You will have rabbits bigger than deer.

EDIT: I went and checked, your rabbits will be cow sized.
That's normal for Chernobyl rabbits.

Okay, well thanks guys, I'll try it out soon  :)
I'm also trying to add a creature, the rabbit. This is the code I have, everything works fine except that I don't know how to make them purchaseable at embark...
Add [NATURAL].

Pre-embark purchaseability (hehe) is determined by [COMMON_DOMESTIC] tag.

I think you have to regen your world.

One-tile islands are tricky to make e'en with the world-painter. what's that in the background? It looks like a map.
I have a map somewhere with a 5x5 or 5x6 island that is pure stone and no water (you have to pump some water to get mud and also purify it to be drinkable)..

Pure stone means non-embarkable area. I've got some islands alike but embarkanywhere doesn't work with d16. ;-)

Also, excellent find! This makes magma much easier to manage, and metal mechanisms are entirely realistic (eg, brass gears and such)

Entirely realistic is the magmaproof quartzite, that melts at 1770°C, really. ;-)

I deleted the region1 folder to open up a slot, and now DF keeps quitting during world generation.
Then I deleted Dwarf Fortress and replaced it with a vanilla copy, then put a few of my old creatures back in.
And it keeps crashing.

Thoughts? I'm pretty sure theres something wrong thats been seen before, so I didn't put this under Bugs.
Could having a bad creature token in my raws kill the game during world gen? I currently only have eight modded/new creatures.

1. Try to run the game without modded creatures. Read the errorlog.txt and gamelog.txt
2. Add the creatures. Read the files again. Feel the difference. ;-)
3. Post creatures raws here.

No. Just soil tag from peat ;-)


*That change (peat to clay and reversed) means that the game controls the height layers and soil types.

Hey! Lonewolf Robinson Crusoe's quest completed. ;-)

Six micro islands per one map.

Each around 40-80 z-levels height (depth, really ;D).
Wood, magma, sand. But no HFS at all.

Wow.

I've just removed the soil tag from peat, loaded the game and what i see - the game changed all soil peat into clay!
So there's no peat at all on the map!

Write the tag back and there's a peat fields again on the map. Wow. (That's even after the saving with clay!)

I'd rather just have the worldgen; landmasses tend to remain the same across multiple versions, it's the specifics that change.

Case in point; the previous two islands generate fine for me despite me having extensively modded my game, i just get different biomes and stones.
Sorry for that, i don't remember the seeds, and the game doesn't export "map and gen info" from legends - created files are zero length.

*upd*: I've suddenly run out of free disk space, so it's my fault.
Wait a minute, i'll post gen info.
