Other Games / Scurvy Sea Dogs
« on: August 11, 2012, 01:10:42 pm »
Yes, another one of these threads. I'm looking for games that let you control a scurvy crew of greasy sailors. Games with RPG and strategy elements. Games that let you ride the seas in search of profit and adventure.

Games like...

Age of Pirates

Pirates of the Western Sea

Warband (With mods...)

Expedition Roguelike

Other Games / Games With Raiding/Looting
« on: November 01, 2011, 04:32:57 pm »
I've always loved the idea of rushing into your enemy's stronghold/base/town and having your men grab anything not nailed down, and hightail it out of there with fat piles of loot. I've played a few RTS games that let you upgrade units to give loot when killing enemies or attacking structures but I've never played a game that lets you rush in, terrorize the locals, and rush out with their swag. Anybody know any games with a good looting/raiding system on a large scale?

General Discussion / Regular Show
« on: September 12, 2010, 12:31:14 pm »
So, I was watching Cartoon Network the other night checking to see if anything good was on (ie. Ed Edd n Eddy, Adventure Time, Ect.) and I came across Regular Show. Regular Show is a cartoon about two best buddies who are live-in groundskeepers at a park and the adventures they get into. Now, the two main characters are Mordecai, a blue jay, and Rigby, raccoon. Mordecai and Rigby are roomates with a very juvenille mindset who attempt to entertain themselves in the most interesting ways possible. Their adventures range from stealing a magic keyboard called "The Power" from a wizard taking a piss, to summoning an eldritch, extradimensional monster over a game of Rock Paper Scissors.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Regular Show is the brainchild of J.G. Quintel, creative director for the now discontinued show The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack. The show itself is very trippy in it's artstyle and general wackiness.

2 in the AM PM- A short by J.G. Quintel. Two gas station attendents trip on LSD during their early morning shift. Characters from Regular Show make appearances. Not for children.

So, I found this little bit not long ago. Just started watching the "entries" and I'm still trying to decide it it was ment to be fake or if the guy who made them is passing them off as real. Not saying they aren't.

Other Games / Games For Skool

So, I will be starting mt senior year in less than a week and I have more than a few people expecting me to give them time killers to play with when they are supposed to be working. Last year, I converted half of an entire engineering class to Roguelikes. I literally had an entire row of computers running IVAN. Also worth nothing, I had quite a few people playing LCS at various times of the day. We finished off the year with a constant 5 player session of Uberleben. I now need a few new graphically simple games that will run on the school's shitty computers. I already have a copy of Unreal World that I will drop on the school's servers for all to enjoy but I need more. So, any suggestions? Simple games that will draw the mainstream in with a little bit of Labs' Homebrewed Marketing.

Other Games / Fishing
« on: August 22, 2010, 01:12:04 pm »
For some reason, I just had the strong urge to play a game that included commercial fishing. Anybody here know of any games with a good fishing system, preferably on a large scale. I've seen a few MUDs with things like this but not much else.

General Discussion / Naton States DFC

So, Nation States. Fun little computer toy where you develop a nation by solving issues as the leader of the country. There are regions where players can drop their own nations along with others. Now there is a DFC region so come on in!

General Discussion / Song Mashups

Like a remix. A mashup of two different songs into one that produces a "Phat Beat". Just an example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DUw8qJOlavQ&feature=related

Anybody have some good ones?

I dunno, some people are obsessed with them. Discuss.

EDIT: Oh yeah, that little egg in my sig is from this site. Click it to help my egg. If you want.  ::)

Forum Games and Roleplaying / On the run.

You are a citizen of an unnamed country. A totalitarian regime is in power and it rules with an iron fist.  Your country is fairly modern with most modern conveniences. You live in a very poor, rural village in a small shack. You are a local fisherman at the age of 19. You have been recently accused of attacking and killing a government representative. You don't have much money and not many possesions but you do have some basic survival skills. You know that they are coming for you and you need to skip town quickly. You think the village will support you but if things take a turn for the worse, you will be on your own.

You are currently in your shack. There is a cast iron stove on the west wall, a simple matress on the north wall, a door on the east wall, and a cabinet on the south wall. The shack is approxametly 5x5x3 meters. There is a small table in the center with an unsturdy chair. There is a single light hanging from the ceiling. Your 20 gague shotgun is by the door next to your fishing pole. There is a box of birdshot on the table along with a rucksack. You know that there is a tin of beans and a tin of pineapple in the rucksack along with a canteen full of water. In your cabinet there are some simple tools. A multitool (pliers, knife, flashlight), a hammer, a kitchen knife, fishing tackle (6 hooks, 20 meters fishing line), and 1 kilogram of smoked fish.

Other Games / Wurm Online (Embark Party Needed!)
« on: March 24, 2010, 07:01:07 pm »
Oh no! Another Wurm thread. But this one is different. I was talking to Yanlin and we got into a discussion about Wurm Online. We decided that it would be a fun idea to grab some people from the DFC and start a village of sorts. When you join, it would be like Dwarf Fortress in the sense that you are one of the dwarves in the embark party. We would be bulilding a village from the ground up. Most likely a dirty Humie city as Underground tunnels are hard to maintain. The village would most likely be Dwarf Fortress themed with the name sprouting from some legendary fort. We would have megaprojects and such, a booze industry (duh), and perhaps something that sets us apart from all the other villages on Wurm. So, post if you are interested. I think it will be a fun endevour.

General Discussion / Sports.
« on: March 09, 2010, 09:13:32 pm »
Ahh sports, the bane of every nerd, geek, and hacker. Spring track just started for me and I am pumped for shot put and javelin. I consider myself a bit of a jock. I've played baseball and football for most of my life and have been pretty good at both. I recently took up track after a friend reccomended I join the team.

Discuss sports and such here. If you don't like them, or being outside for that matter, then discuss that too.

You are in a hallway running north and south. There are three doors on the western side, one on the northern side, and one on the eastern side, a brass plate mounted over it. There is a man standing and swaying a bit.
