IMO, it should be edited some to go with the whole "informed minority against uninformed majority" thing. Example message in a 12 player game with 4 possible mafia teams:
"To player 4: If mafia you could be with player 1 and 5 in team 1, or 3 and 10 in team 3. You could be one of these power roles: Vigilante, Doctor. You could be a plain old townie, too."

I suppose it depends on each person's individual preference. I prefer to watch for suspicious behavior rather than vote randomly, but others (as you've seen) enjoy laying votes about with no rhyme or reason.
