Civ Rise

This is a Tribal type game inspered by My Hystory class is awesome and TRIBES - a prehistoric tale of prehistoric people doing prehistoric things

This is an RP game, but it will depend mainly on your your specific annual goals. This means that a good RP will help you along but be sure to finish your turn post with a spoiler listing out your goals for that year and which individuals will be dedicated to those tasks so I don't overlook any. The more people working on something the higher chance and faster it is completed. there is chance for random events to shake things up. These random events could be natural disasters, non player tribes popping up, etc.

Your tribe consists of 50 men, 50 women, 25 children, and 25 elderly.

Spoiler: Rules (click to show/hide)

Turn schedule is 1 day. The year will end when everyone has posted their turn, but at midnight of the following day of turn start the year will end regardless of post and your tribe will simply continue their last stated goal, even if this means they sit around doing nothing and starve. Turn ones deadline is a bit longer but will still end once all registered players have confirmed their turn.

So here starts ...

Civ Rise - The Beginning

May your people grow strong, and rule this land as you see fit.

P.S. Also, I think it could be Scamps. He edited the message when Toady One didn't look. He's definitely a money-hungry cat :3.

He needs more absorbent toys!

Rage rage X or Y rage dennislp3 rage!

ah now thats out of my system. ;D

Im not sure an in out flow or a fixed goal would be beneficial to this sort of project. but maybe if they broke down how much hourly pay Toady is getting from donations, But I wouldn't want to stress that. out of worry that seeing the money in that light might be really depressing.

is this Troll? I mean 40d hasnt been around for years, and it gets updated regularly. and the new version is just around the corner. Im not sure I see a legitimate reason for your belly aching.

im sure he has lost a few people due to the long wait. but that comes with the teritory of indipendant game development. But he makes up for it with a loyal band of zealots.

This is beyond awesome. We have all encountered the evil benign wildlife. did they make the roofs out of floors or did any of them figure out they could use the "Bridge" to save on lumber?

whatttttttttttttttttt

what is this

you are JOKING?!

(but yes we used floors because jesus christ you can use bridges for roofs?)

I tend to think of it as making a thached roof, the space under a bridge is considered indoors, so it functions the same as a floor. you just cant put a chair on your roof when you use a bridge.

This reminds me of when we were doing this type of lesson in elementary school. we used Oregon trail though. and Mike kept dieing of dysentery.

i would have to second the Depth.

Re-playability is simply being able to play the game again and get a different result. the more depth a game has the more re-playability it has. The more re-playability it has, the more you have to play in order to see it all. and ass shown by the fact that moss can grow on constructions that are many game years old is an example of the amazing deapth, and DF is still an alpha.

You still need that primary hook though.

My second half of the response is, you need an intriguing story and a sense of purpose. In order to want to go deep into a game you need to want to. with DF you have your 7 little dwarves and they don't want to die, but the world around them seems hell bent on making it happen. You end up getting attached to the little guys and their personality traits and their romances and they successes and their failures.

so a mine field of these things would be feasible... awesome! I shall begin the search for a suitable location. Im having to much fun with my current fort to spend much time on that though... and then the new version... maybe I'll wait... I dunno.

thats a tall Z axis you've got there on that geyser. still impressive. does anyone know how creatures react to such an event. I am suddenly inspired to make several if it can wash them in.

thanks for the help, I was worried because the Wiki states that hero holding 6 adamantine swords in one hand is cool, but ultimately makes the weapons useless on the artifacts page.

Deler just lost his closest friend to the latest and third seige, making my losses so far (non-civilian and non-magma related :-\) equaling 2 both to the same bow bold on two separate seiges. one of my lesser known champs who was married when he joined made hero from killing the fiend and has begun to pester his wife for offspring starting the unofficial Birth Off 205. Monom my jeweler is in the lead with 4 children followed closely by Uvard the Pushy Distraction's wife with 3 and 3 others tied for third.

To round this post off, Mafol now has an Artifact Iron short sword to go with that shield with more images of his exploits now of his outflanking the goblin foe in that first siege. and Deler now holds the pride of the fortress Temptedrouts the Bearded Stones, a kobold bone Battle Axe.

Wow that comic is awesome, before I read it I thought "elf chick and some cloth" then I read it and the second I got to the announcement of gender my mind was blown! the character now no longer resembles a female at all to me :o.

I love that dwarf Soadreqm. my current Dwarven fortress has Kobolds as their civ symbol. at first I thought it was because they were respectful of them, I've learned since then. I have a wall that is three tiles of masterful Kobold engravings followed by my Expedition leader founding the fortress and book-ended by dwarves laboring (founding the fortress). That image also fits perfectly with my Miner spotting the first kobold at my fort. sadly the little guy got eaten by my war dog. he made a spiffy crown and totem though. His skin probably became a shield.

I just got my first seige in my recent fort Boatscontrol. as soon as the seige started a leatherworker goes fey and begins gathering items. The seige starts and its a normal first go. one squad lots of wrestlers a Swordgob leading the charge. but behind them are five Crosbow goblins ready to kill my troops.

The forces clash my worst fears are realised when my dwarves are slowed to a stop fighting the wrestlers while bolts rain down on them. One dwarf goes down, My youngest worrier, Deler who was a child immigrant  takes a bolt to the head knocking him unconscious. I'm sure its over for him. But then Mafol Bowlfortress appears out of nowhere Behind the enemy Crossbowgobs killing three saving the lives of all my troops.

Mafol, Now Mafol Bowlfortress the Watchful Channel, is known for his Heroics. In spring of that year Deler was still a child and a snatcher grabbed him just beyond the cage traps. Mafol had just made champion and was drinking at the well not 6 steps from the scene and saved young Delers life. The leather worker announced his masterpiece mere seconds after the last goblin fell, Workersmashed a Giant Eagle leather buckler. On it aside from many spikes is a depiction of Mafol saving Deler earlier that year. I made sure Mafol got this item but am now worried that its ineffective due to him still holding the horse leather shield he had before.

how I got the GE leather is another story entirely that involves Deler and his pet Dog Zon. I'm really liking this fort.
