Deadlock was good too. I remember there was this game where you made a colony underground. I think it was made by microsoft too. The followup obviously sucked.

You can also be sure that they will keep upgrading the game for years. If there is one gamedev company, what is not bullshitting, that is Stardock. Have you seen the features of the upcoming 2.0 patch for Galciv 2.? It's amazing. It's like a mini expansion pack.Doesn't make galciv 2 less boring or less of a crappy x4 game. No point in being mega active and caring when you create carp's food. But you already know my opinion on stardock and I have that opinion because of their games, not their attitude which I wish every game company had.
This one is actually looking -good- and it's giving me hopes of a fun game to buy after that spore-let-down.

I recommend two doses of Darklands followed by Star Trail in Advanced mode (don't forget your wool socks, you don't wanna get the flu!).

« on: November 06, 2008, 08:13:11 pm »Sims 3 looks a lot more interesting - open world rather than having to load between lots, much more freedom to it.Yep, quite a few developers are mentioning DF. It's good people are taking it as inspiration.
Interestingly, in the first interview with the dev team, they noted Dwarf Fortress as an influence, among a few others.
Hopefully it will mean less crappy games.

I don't want sex scenes or boobs flashing around, but being able to be a porn actor in Fallout2 was one of the funny things. They didn't try to hide you from that aspect of survival. In F3, you pretty much meet one whore and one crazy goth. That's it.
