DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Cave-In Cannon

It's actually possible to build walls around bridges. I usually do it, in order to make my floating fortresses. The trick is to start off from the shore to the end, and then making the end-walls, floors. That way, you can finish up the project.

Then you remove one floor.

And replace it with a wall.

Rinse and repeat.

For super-mega dwarf points, have them be dwarven Elf-king bones.

There are a very few that follow realistic designs, but that's for futuristic, and that's RARE.
Like, super-rare.
And they usually don't follow that path.
For instance, most of the Knightmares from Code Geass would actually be possible. Just not any of the fancy ones.

Great Wyrm-
I recommend swinging the hammer in a circular motion.

I find myself using steel more then I'd like.
What I WANT to use is copper/Bronze, but with Genesis, that's nigh impossible..

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: What other "Secrets" would you like to see?
« on: September 04, 2011, 12:48:43 am »
Actually, I think this is how it should work:

Secrets, okay? You have the 'Magical' secrets, taking the Spheres of:
Decay/Death vs. Life/Regeneration
Fire/Pyromance vs. Ice/Cryomance
Earth/Golems vs. (You'll get a kick outta this,) Nature/Wilderness vs. Air/Sky
Metal vs. Magic(With the possibility to half-combine them, actually resulting in metal that's actually slightly life-threatening to the User, just by virtue of being wielded.)
Each of these has a total of TWENTY aspects. Opposing forces cannot be mixed together, except as part of the History. You'd have to get the person who knows the secret as a Migrant, and the ability could only be activated via a mood.
HOWEVER, Forces that do NOT oppose have a 75% chance of being mixed together by ANY mood, with the Mood taking 3 random Aspects and throwing them together.

Then there's the non-magical aspect of it: LEARNING it.

First thing's first: It applies SPECIFICALLY to a skill. The only time you can learn it, is if you're Legendary at it.(Thus, those abilities that can't be tied to a skill are tied to 'Alchemy' which can have some use in the future.) In fact, the only way you can TEACH it is if you're a master Teacher. Thus, SEVERELY limiting the amount of people who can use Secrets.

Martial Arts does have a style purely dedicated to Weapons, known as Ninjitsu. Just use that.
It actually covers just about any type of bladed weapon, and a few that aren't.

There's five of them, and they're all in a single column going down.
That's all.
Seriously.
Like, I'll use printscreen and show you.
If I can figure out how to use it.

I'm just remembering the Troglodyte that bit off a Hunters left leg, then, after deciding that wasn't quite enough, followed through and ripped off her right arm, too.
And the great thing? The hunter WON...
..With the help of a military-squad dispatched when I did a routine check-up on my hunters.

I have a few subjects contained in one of my Fortresses that are most certainly alive, just not effective. Athens-class Pods are not narly strong enough. And the new ones are small enough, EASILY small enough, with a small two months being enough training time, but seem a tad bit deadly, as the child is now almost completely in the browns, with one yellow and one red.

Yo, Dawg, I heard you Like Dwarf Fortress.
So I had your Dwarf Minions make a Dwarfputer in your Computer, and then Program Dwarf Fortress into Dwarf Fortress, so you could run your computer when you're running your computer, and you could kill your Nobles while you're killing your nobles. How 'bout that?!

Throw all immigrants into a big chamber with grates as floor.
Step one: Dump magma on them.
Step two: Dump water on them.
Step three: Allow for a single doctor to practice with them. Those who die while waiting are obviously not worthy.
Step four: Drop in the Gobbos.
Step five: Now that the surviving dwarves have killed the Goblins, allow them to use the weapons they dropped.
Step six: Capture as many FBs/ Demons(Cave Spider Webs, everyone!)/Colossi as possible.
Step seven: Drop them in.
Step eight: Give them leather/bone armor.
Step nine: send them into Candy-Spear infested Danger Chambers.
Step ten: Allow the few survivors to exit..By swimming to freedom.

That is the singlemost terrible idea I have ever heard...ever.
Anyway, Eric Blank, is there a save for Failcannon still floating around somewhere, or would I have to build a .25 version from scratch?
Although, it wouldn't be as much fun, what, with the lack of any real succession players..
