I hope this gets added in as vanilla when magic gets added into the game.

Ripping bones out of arms and then carving them into bolts to kill your enemy seems the ultimate dwarfy action to me.

This is a good idea.

Having a dwarf hanging out in a workshop and deciding in a normal dwarf state of mind to rip out his own shin to make bolts remains horrifying.

1 - We need to manually assign them.  It's not so much a bug as an oversight, I think, and I haven't seen Toady express any intention to change it but that doesn't mean anything.

2 - No clue if they can be bigger, sorry

3 - They cannot directly; you have to forbid the eggs in the nestbox before anyone grabs them.

4 - Egg-laying civ dudes to need boxes.

5 - I don't know what you mean, sorry :-/

You probably don't even have to remove the old pasture; I haven't yet.  You just need to reassign its occupants.

Regarding the source of your problem: are you absolutely sure that the pasture extends to other grassy spots?

Might be duplicated RAWS.. I had Troll thieves wearing Giant Cave-Swallow-Man-Soap-Cloaks when I had the alligator RAWS duplicated.

A cloak made of soap...  Freaked-Out-World Trolls are very innovative.

Well, if offspring will spore each other, the next major step is to filter out weak breeding stock; if you have anything less than "gigantic", you'll want to slaughter them before they breed.  My rumours are +high quality+ in this thread, but I've heard that for some reason most animals aren't turning up small.

Does anyone know what effect Muscle size has on butchering, milking, etc.?  I know that there was some research on that way back when, but it doesn't seem to have been recorded on the Wiki.

One could actually work around this propensity to wear to nothing, if one built a couple of "strips" of burning floor grate that could be independently replaced. When strip #1 burns through, close off that tunnel to invaders, replace the floor grates and reignite. Meanwhile, open tunnel containing strip #2, and ignite it. Invaders will come through the open tunnel.

Given the relative death of materials in 31.19, I might consider investigating wood grates as a suitable replacement. Wood can be farmed, can be grown underground where it's safe, and can be made into grates just like lignite.

A needlessly complicated, limited use weapon which has to be reset every 9 months?  THAT is true dwarfiness.

Maybe you'll get lucky and he'll make a Gem Crutch.  About a third of my artifacts are crutches.

(I doubt crutches can even be artifacted out of gems.)

Does he crawl out of bed at all?  If you want to really micromanage, you could try buildin ga jeweler's shop in your hospital, and then producing tiny stockpiles with every item he asks for.

I reccomend letting him go nuts, though.  If he goes berserk, free target practice for your military!  If he doesn't, raving naked bedridden dwarf!

+ Remove all the less interesting gems, metals, alloys, stones, soils, crafts, plants, creatures, vermins and body parts.
+ Remove clothings requirement
+ Remove miasma
+ Remove as many reactions as you can afford, especially if it's get_material_from_reagent or involve reaction_class (such as the render fat one)
+ Less civs
+ Smaller worlds
+ Smaller embark
+ No temperature
+ No weather
+ No running water on embark
+ 0-1 cavern layers
+ Disable magma sea and the layer beyond
+ Stick to .18

+ Don't play the game.  Instead, stare at your computer as it processes mundane tasks.
+ Buy enough ram to hold the whole embark and extra temp data. Disable paging.
+ Purchase a more powerful computer (reasonable)
+ kidnap and put toady on a lease until he optimize the code to a more manageable level (affordable)
+ Hire a top tier hardware corporation to design a console specifically to run DF (very expensive)

With the new changes to animal mechanics, I believe that factory farming could become a possibility on a larger scale than ever before used.
This implies the controlled and industrialized reproduction of the animals to a rate in which a sustainable birth rate can be matched with a steady output.

How do we make this happen?

I think to really put it into practice, we need Hay first.  it's just not Factory enough when they're Free-range.

But other factors, I think we need multiple breeding pairs; I've heard that offspring are reluctant to Spore each other.  I'm currently working on a Sheep farm...  with, so far, a single ram.  very useful.

It says I have 395 Dwarven Syrup, and it's checked off as cookable.

Is it the only cookable you have?  If I'm not mistaken, you need at least two different stacks/types of stacks of food to cook successfully.  but it's highly possible that I'm mistaken.

Also make sure that there's a path between the kitchen and the syrup?

Also, you can just try doing what I do when the lag gets bad - use the forums while the game runs in the background.  Who cares if you only get 3 FPS, just leave it running for an hour while you type on the forums, and check in every now and then.

Before I graduated, I did homework while I played.  Now I read or clean.
