Eh... I disagree.
You need to remember that selling short is
A) Always at your risk. You cannot do it through another company, therefore if it 'goes wrong' you pay.
B) Transaction based. It does not help your networth and you cannot choose to keep the stock.
C)Risky with a smart opponent. If someone else buys up your shorted stock before it drops, you need to cover the position prematurely and that can cost you.

And check your troop composition.
Army composition is like a rock paper scissors matchup. I forget which unit types are better against which, but his army may be heavy with a type that is superior to a unit your army is heavy in

Sometimes I think the stress and anguish of worrying about heirs is the most fun part of the game:-)
So often do you have well laid plans that end up going horribly wrong (take my groomed heir in the LP dying, for example). But in the end, it all makes things more fun:-)

yes. I should have mentioned that:
DO NOT PLAY WITH AGGRESSIVE AI
It just messes stuff up because they get  themselves killed stupidly way too much. Cowardly and weakling are not too easy- in fact, they make for a better game experience (and harder, since you will be against bigger more powerful enemies that don't just stupidly destroy themselves)

Also, if it isn't obvious, I didn't manage to get an update in before leaving for the holiday.
Sorry, won't have a chance to play until Tuesday at the earliest.

I actually have update notes sitting idle... I just never got around to writing the next update.
I'd like to continue it, its great fun, but its always hard to get back into a game like this after a long absence.

I'll see about trying to write up the most recent update soon... then maybe I'll get the irking to play it more. But playtime would be competing with my CK LP.

Hungary is one of the few kingdoms that I feel always lasts in my games.
Even in this LP game France has morphed and changed quite a bit and Germany was pretty much dead (but managed a huge comeback and is now very powerful)- but most bigger kingdoms tend to collapse (they may recover but the point is they reach a vulnerable state) but Hungary never seems to do so...

As for next update... The LP reports are currently 'caught up' with my play time, so I need to play more. That won't happen until tonight at earliest, and then the update only has a chance of being tonight as well... otherwise tomorrow.

Things are getting sticky with the holidays approaching.
Also, I won't be able to play at all after tomorrow until Tuesday or so...

Hmmm... Well... I'm not 100%, but I thought it was titles... Thats a really good question- worth posting on the paradox forums if no one here can give a definite answer. I'd post it myself, but the paradox forums are blocked for me at the moment :-\

The assassination route would be the only viable choice I can think of, but if it doesn't work, it doesn't work :(
Thats the hard thing about the Byzantine Empire, their inheritances are so hard to be sure of...

He has only one province, but I fear the troops he can summon form his vassals.
I'm not sure the exact number, but I think he outnumbers me when it comes to troops. But as you say, if I can take his province quick enough, before he gets his vassal's troops into play, then it may work.
But honestly, at the moment I am worried about my family line.
I have two sons- but one is depressed and neither have sons. My family line ends one generation below me. I need my sons to have son(s)...
