Yeah, it's the CGA palette, I realise that. It's just fun. =D

Anyway... slow start (not much time to work on it right now).

The king/queen is pink

Then, for the first time in 11 years... I will actually make it a goal to get a Monarch!

You could change your color settings, so that gray is purple :P
But I guess it's cheating.

The "color" page in the wiki allows you to do that

Clear glass is dark cyan too, if you have sand available.

Yeah, I am going to use the default colors. (Well, I did adjust them *_slightly*_... but yeah, I play the base game, no actual mods, no editted raws).

I forgot about clear glass, but will probably forego it, as I play "minimalist" forts, and sand/glass is a "luxury".

Thanks guys! Will post screenies soon(ish).

You also can assign everyone as scribe to make them purple.

Nice tip, I'll have to try that one out!

Thanks!

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / "Synthwave" fort!
« on: November 13, 2017, 03:17:33 pm »
I'm going to make a "synthwave" themed fort: i.e. Cyan, magenta, and purple.

I'm going to start with a pile of Rutile (Purple) and Microcline (Cyan) rocks -- to ensure I have those colors -- then 1 bar each of Rose Gold (Magenta), Black Bronze (Purple, valuable), and Lay Pewter (Dark Cyan).

Starting walls, furniture and doors, and such will be Microline, starting floors Rutile. As soon as I hit Magma (yeah, doesn't take long), I'll start non-stop Make <Black Bronze/Rose Gold/Lay Pewter Coins then melt repeatedly to magically summon more metal. (Of course I will use steel as well, it's dark and won't conflict with the color scheme.)

So:
Cyan - Microcline, "candy" (LOL)
Dk Cyan - Lay Pewter
Magenta - Rose Gold
Purple - Black Bronze ($$$$), Rutile, Pitchblende (heavy!)

Oh, and I need to ensure all dwarves are "nobles" so they show up as purple. I guess everyone's going to get a turn as manager/broker.

Any other ideas/tips/etc.?

Will post screens once I get it rollllling (am in the "pick stuff to embark" screen now... XD )

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Cave Moss
« on: August 06, 2012, 01:07:34 pm »
If it is a bug, it's a new one; I've never heard of this (although I know of issues where cave moss grows before you breach the cavern).

Not a bug, if the caves have already been breached in a previous fort in the same biome, moss/plants/trees will grow in any new forts in that same biome.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Eradicating a Civilization?

I could just imagine though, a goblin diplomat arriving one season before a siege. If he is ignored, bam, siege and he leaves. If your mayor speaks to him, they discuss a treaty so they don't attack for the next 2-3 years. Deny him, insult him and spit in his face, or even kill him, he will leave. He should only come every 3 years or so, and he should speak in a demeaning manner, like the elves. Probably without the short jokes though.

Bonus points if civilians throw dirt/rotten food at him as he travels your fortress.
How does he leave if he's dead?

The only way out is through the chimney.

Oh no... you didn't.  :o

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: [BUG] Shift+comma not <
« on: May 30, 2012, 04:46:00 pm »
I've very occasionally had strange things happen with my keyboard in DF.  Usually the only thing that corrects this is to exit the game and reboot the computer.  Specifically these involved the shift system not working correctly.  A lesser problem has been a cursor key seeming to get stuck and the screen being pinned to one edge of the map, not always the same edge.  This only has required restarting the game, and not the OS.  Not that it is easy to save the game when the cursor is cycling madly through the menu, but it was eventually possible.

I had that happening, solution: disable the short-bus controls, specifically (i think) 'sticky keys'.

As to the OP: I dunno.

one limit i can think of: every dwarf will die eventually. every dwarf will need a coffin or slab. practical limit is the max number of coffins/slabs you can place. to prevent ghosts which may cause FUN, thus ending 'forever'.

any other practical limits?

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Not sure I like the new drop rates
« on: May 18, 2012, 07:52:13 pm »
i love the droprates. less clutter and tgere is still waaaaay more than enough stone if you need it. blocks solve the construction issues. minerals? for me, since the rarity setting became available, i gen worlds only with 100,000 (absolute minimum minerals), but once the goblinite starts flowing i have plenty of iron (and steel if i've flux). still easy peasy.

yeah. dwarf up.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Add advertisement to DF?
« on: May 17, 2012, 04:53:27 pm »
NO.

I'd stop playing.

I work in advertising, and that is the reason I DO NOT watch television, DO NOT listen to (commercial) radio, DO NOT read magazines without tearing the ad pages out first, and SCRIPT BLOCK ad sites on my intarwebs.

NO.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Lousy children question
« on: May 07, 2012, 09:42:09 am »
My children are all slaves, they build constructions, craft, engrave... it's fun to have them legendary crafters before they even hit adulthood.

I am pretty sure they haul as well 'cause that's the only time they risk getting snatched, sneaking outside to pick up some goblinite. I'll double check but I am pretty sure they haul too.

Keep them working and they don't make as many friends and don't wander into the pederasts, unless cleaning after a sortie.

Can't draft 'em until they're adults though.
