Yeah, that poor pit bull tried to rassle a porcupine. I bet the poor thing is blind now too. =[

However, without modern science to keep the dog alive, Darwin would have helped keep that dummie from reproducing...

Yeah, I have noticed that same thing. It is probably meat or fat or fish as a component. Don't sell clear or crystal glass either, as you need wood to make that.

'Course the elves suck, no matter how you put it.

Only one dwarf can drink from a barrel at once, and if you have ~500 drinks, and maybe 10 drinks per barrel, that is only 50 barrels. So if half of your 180 dwarves get thirsty at once, 40 need to find wells, the river, or wait.

And make sure you save it!

I can't tell you how many times (in numerous games/work applications) I have wondered why something isn't working right... and it's cause I didn't SAVE the damn file!

'course you prolly did that. It's just funny, my stupidity.   :D

Sure, select the folder and savegame file for the region, delete them, and empty your recycle bin. Safe, quick, and clean.

Restore? Not possible.

DF Bug Reports / Re: Dwarves Starving Despite Abundant Food
« on: June 20, 2007, 05:36:00 pm »
Heh, I have learned, FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, that if you are starving, you will eat ANYTHING.

I mean, come on, they are willing to eat WORMS, for crissakes! Why won't they eat the same old same old?

Yeah, I had to eat nuttin but taters and onions for about a year. (College tuition is very hard on those of us not independently wealthy, but that's a 'nother bag of worms I won't go into...)

'Course, if it is a feature, it's kinda neat, but, um, yeah, starving, you will eat whatever you can.

Heh, my cardinal rule is DON'T UPGRADE NUTHIN LESS YOU NEED TO! Drivers, hardware, software...

If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Of course, 'need' is completely subjective...

DF Bug Reports / Re: cancels Give Water: Need empty bucket spamming
« on: January 22, 2007, 02:56:00 pm »
I had almost the same thing happen, an injured dwarf who was crawling on my bridges was mercifully swept off the bridge (or so I thought.) He ended up on a little outcropping of land just south of where I had dug, so he could not get home, and no one could get him. The spam was tremendous. I let him die, but then I was getting spam about 'store item in stockpile' and errors trying to get clothing to  the trade depot. So I had to dig him out, course after he was dead.

DF Bug Reports / Re: Underground trees.

The sapling probably sprouted in the short time frame between digging the channel and that tile filling to 7/7 water. If it is a mangrove tree, they can survive in water (I've seen other submerged saplings die). If it is a mango tree, which I haven't noticed in the game yet, then I would think it would have died, and is buggy. I suspect the former, however, and it is working as intended.

DF Bug Reports / Re: Dwarves w/ permenant injuries wont spar
« on: January 15, 2007, 02:39:00 pm »
I tend to train my dwarves in unarmed, to minimize sparring wounds, and so I can use weapons in weapons traps. Once they hit elite/champion I give em xbows and have em train marks.

Toady, I think it is the same error. I have played around a bit trying to trigger it (harder than you'd think when you WANT the error to show, I hate debugging =p). It seems to be related to the application recieving too many key messages at once, and for whatever reason, one gets stuck and not released. Perhaps the WAPI cannot send all the messages, so it retains some, and keeps sending it repeatedly, not recognizing it was received. Once I switch out, the WAPI releases the key messages (or perhaps passes them to the now active application), and going back to DF, all seems fine.

But, meh, I make amateur programmers look like pros =p. Though I loves my C...

This seems to be a semi-common bug. The key hooks are not releasing, apparently. I have solved this problem by clicking on my desktop, then switching back to DF. It is a Windows-application interfacing problem. Of course, if you run fullscreen, I *imagine* alt-tabbing out and back will also fix the problem.
