...quality shrooms, yeah, beats quantity, unless you juts don't have enough, then I guess quantity beats quality...

Man, I wish I had some!

Interesting, then perhaps they would have the skills of the dead dwarf? But they could not learn more. That way, as long as you had the corpse, you could bring back that awesome dwarf. And, of course, they wouldn't have emotions, so they wouldn't go nuts when their masterpieces were destroyed... Hmmm... Fey dwarf, drown, make automaton...

RoboDwarf?

How about *only* as artifacts, then you get another citizen in your fortress. One dwarf creates a 'friend', so to speak. Then he is a member of your fortress, and can be given jobs, etc. The idea of artifact golems (i dun like that word for it...) would be kept rare, and it could be another (though unreliable) way to get more population, and a badass one at that!

I was kinda thinking of Marvin the Depressed Robot...

I imagine the interface is getting an overhaul for the next release, but I would like the "Idlers" counter on top, not the bottom, so messages don't cover it. And it would be cool if it was "Idlers: X/Y" where x=idlers, y=total dwarfs.

A room with an inwards-only door is a trap, in fact. Usable.

There is a street, in Detroit, that is both one-way and a dead-end. They may have fixed that by now, I haven't lived there in a few years.

Dunno, but they don't seem to mind when you sell them a 'Human Skull Totem'.

Interesting... also a world economy could have an effect on prices and values of objects. Why is platinum expensive? Because it is rare. If a bunch of mines are created to mine solely platinum, its value would drop as the market is saturated. If you ignore the copper to beeline for platinum, then copper's value would rise as well.

That's not gonna happen. And I am glad too, as then it is Toady's vision, unified.

Open source doesn't mean faster development, nor less bugs. It just means you have more cooks in the kitchen. Might be good, might not. Like everything else, it depends.

'Course translations of text might probably be needed, but, yeah, too much to go yet, I think.

Well a ruler is a great idear.

The shift+arrow keys would be ok if it didn't get stuck half the time. =/ (it's a keyhook thing, windows->application communcation.)

Did I miss an update? Or is that a screenie from Toady for the next update? My mountain face is still a straight line...

And 'nationalized' items (pre-economy), once the economy kicks in, could be bought from the dwarf, sort of an 'eminent domain'.

Like bulldozing a house to build a freeway... or something like that   ;)

DF Suggestions / Re: There needs to be a particular cheat available...
« on: March 20, 2007, 10:15:00 am »
Well said. Now, my point was mainly that if you (use provided) cheat and are having fun that is ok. If the designer doesn't provide any, then it is probably possible to win without cheats, so try! If you are bloodying your fists on the walls then you don't need cheats, you need a therapist. if you have won it so many times but want to try something unique... that is good... cheats are ok, i guess, but damn, there's more to life! lol

ok i am rambling, my coffee isn't ready yet.

Rewalling is the proposed rebuilding of walls. That way, you can mine out the ore/gems, then put a wall back up. (or repair the damage done by tunneling invaders!)

To any naysayers:
Cheating in a single player game is PERFECTLY FINE if you are having fun. Even if you aren't, it still must be 'fun', because you are doing it and it's a GAME. It only ruins the game if it CRASHES or something because of it.

I don't, but if you want to, go right ahead.

Multiplayer, cheating is bad.

I think that'd be easy and fun, considering I have made several tilesets already! =D
