Super Reason Number One!

Why make your innovations open source when you KNOW unscrupulous (EA anyone?) commercial developers will just steal your ideas/code?

Will be revolutionary? Heh, I think this game already is!   :D

Wow, interesting. However, I don't like Java as a development language, personally. Too high-level, thus too much processing power required for the simplest things.

DF is my choice! Besides, I really like DF as NON-open source, so it is one cohesive vision, Toady's.

Was I attacking? Heh, that's just me. I am just  stating what I have experienced. Perhaps I have misinterpreted my experiences but they do not coincide with what you are telling me that I should have experienced.

It's all good. Internet communication can be so... shaky.

Well, if it's enabled by default, it's broken. My fonts are NOT anti-aliased (by any method). Nor are any fonts on any _2000_ machine I have ever worked on. Maybe it's just my eyes are really bad?

'Course, first thing I do on a 2k machine is delete 'MicrosoftSound.wav', and then disable a bunch of stuff, including web folders and active desktop. So perhaps, it is disabled, perhaps just the option is disabled, whatever. It really doesn't matter.

Whatever, I have real work to do, and I am gonna do it.

Well, I guess I have a buggy version of 2k then, 'cause I do not have the option to 'smooth edges of screen fonts'.

I do not have it enabled, nor would I want it so.

Make sense now?

I don't think it does a good job. And, 'cause for me, XP sucks.

2k pro doesn't have that setting (thank the gods, that's what I use at home.) I have it disabled on this machine here. So... that may be related, but maybe not...

Actually that sort of explains what happened to me (at work...)

I changed the monitor's resolution to 1600x1200 to make DF even tinier and less noticeable, using my 7x7 font. However, I was getting magenta around the edges of my objects as well and thought that perhaps my custom tiles had gotten corrupted. The file had not. Now that I read this I changed my resolution back to 1280x960 (has to be 4:3), and no more corrupted graphics. Perhaps I will look into updating the video driver on this machine.

Yeah, I can't get it to work with the above code snippet either =[

Personally, I think Rank Titles and Post Counts (and avatars), all of which we don't have here, only take away from the actual subject of discussion.

I like things the way they are, NO RANKS, just US and TOADY.

DF General Discussion / Re: What music fits DF best? And why?

I listen to death metal, dance, classical, or country when playing. They all fit the mood.

Or opera, that is really fun, listening to Wagner while playing DF. On a turntable, no less!!

(that is a record player for you kids. =p)
