DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Mandate...

An alternative is to wait until it is time for justice to be dispatched. Find out who the officer handing out the punishment is and try to keep him contained long enough for you to issue your finest armour to the 'criminal'. If he is just being imprisoned then don't bother. A lot of people also confiscate the hammerers hammer using forbid to reduce him to punching his victims (I've never tried this though but I think it works).

Good point Greiger. Dwarves too have this issue. One of my most bizarre moments playing DF was when my human adventurer finally found the Dwarven King and tried to ask for a quest. He booked it east and as we had the same speed as him the chase went on for over three minutes. When he finally stopped, I asked him about service and he told me to ask when he returned home! He had become a migrant! Crazy King.

I saw your title and maybe I'm silly but all I could think was
'All your socks are belong to us'

SHIT SON!
That was amazing dieinafire I salute you for your endurance and stamina. I noticed near the end some of the soldiers looked thirsty; I'm sure they were are relieved to be done. Anyhow, AMAZING.

I don't think stronger, but Skeletal is definitely faster.
Zombie might be worse since it still has all its organs and stuff, meaning your weapons might hit an organ instad of severing a limb.
That's pretty correct; I tend to see Skeletals as a far greater threat to my civilian dwarves as they can chase them a lot easier, while zombies are harder for my soldiers to fight but easier for my civies to escape from.

Man I love fires. I'm looking forward to a future when constructions and doors can catch fire. A human town cheerily burning down while my dwarves toast their Sunshine to them from their gabbro fortress is one of my wishes for the future.

Yeah if you have a friend or family member with some understanding of DF you could just ask them to look for an interesting site for you but not tell you anything about what makes it Fun.

As much as I hate serving the elves I often take their quests as they are often at war (assassinations are my favourite kind of quest) and their druids usually aren't THAT hard to find. Sometimes though I return, my enemy defeated, and find the elves had randomly packed up and left. For some reason elves love to turn into migrants.

The best way to stir up trouble is to bring party members from a neutral human civ into harms way (i.e bring them to an elven retreat your dwarves are at war with). The local leaders might begin asking you to kill particular elves which is lots of fun.

When you check legends mode you realize they actually call it their 'Mead Hall' despite the fact that no one in the game has any 'mead' (for that matter, none of them have honey, which is the main ingredient to mead). Nonetheless, I appreciate the Mead Hall because it means I don't need to search the entire forest, mountain home or *HORROR* dark fortress comprised of 3 different goblin towers to find someone who can give me a quest.

you're playing a dwarf  and you have'n cut down every elf on the map yet? You suck, in addition to being a giant dick.
Fair enough Rowanas but I only like to attack civs my adventurer's civ is at war with. I just feel it adds a bit more realism to the game.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Krazy Kobolds

Haha, yeah you guys caught me I doubt it was worth a million dwarf bucks I never actually leveled anyone up the appraisal skills for even the roughest estimate (I got bored of it after a bit and all the surviving kobolds were being very laggy). I just guestimated that one I'm sure it was a bit off. The alligators just randomly attacked the kobolds as soon as my dwarves arrived; I was quite amazed with their viciousness.

I do too Toony man; hopefully when Toady updates Adventure mode he will allow other dignitaries to give out quests (like Merchant Princes could give trading missions or hire you as a bodyguard).

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / A Typical Elven Dick Move

In my pocket world, my brave band of adventurers managed to end 'The Titan Age' by killing the Titan who had stalked the world for the mere 30 years I had run the gen for. Anyways, before we could kill him, we fought a random giant bat and unfortunately one of the swordsmen in my party had both his hands ripped off and a leg (no idea how he got so unlucky).
Back at the Human city, I maxed out the size of my party and we went to the Elven retreat we were at war with and began fighting. We killed over 40 elves before being cut down.
Anyways, my newest adventurer is a dwarf. I went to talk to the Elven druid who gave me his 'We're at war spiel' but when he told me where his enemy was, rather than mentioning the human town, he told me to go to the cave.
I've been assigned to kill the armless, defenseless former companion of my brave previous adventurer.
Needless to say I'm a giant asshole.

It's the huge building where the King or Queen is at.
Humans actually don't have Kings or Queens (although they do have Merchant Princes and Princesses, however, they do not live in the keep). The Keep currently is just a huge building, mostly empty but with two chairs and generally several guards and children hanging around. If you want a quest go to the Inn.
