I know that water flow can push things. Can it raise things? The reason I ask is that I'm planning an elaborate drowning chamber looking something like this:
%% |
W | | ____
_ |___|
That's a poor side view. The W is the water source, %% is a pump pumping -> way and the ___ is the chamber. I'm gonna block the pipe with a hatch and open it when I want to flood the chamber. The water should then flow upwards from the floor (as opposed to the less convoluted 'through the wall' approach). It should flood as the chamber's on a lower level than the pump's output tile so hydrostatic water pressure should push it upwards. The question is, what if an unsuspecting orc stands on the hatch? Will it fall to the bottom of the pipe or will it be pushed upwards thanks to the water pressure? I would test this but due to a recent orc siege and a little gap in my power unit, I'm not rolling in dwarfpower to build it.
As a side note I know 7/7 water applies no force but the hatch square on the level of the drowning chamber, as far as I know, shouldn't have 7/7 water on it when the hatch opens. Unless chambers flood 7 units at a time... Can orcs swim?
