A game I wish existed is basically this:

A realistic permadeath zombie MMO, with building, crafting, driving and others.

I can't think of anything else, to be honest.

That sounds a bit like what DayZ is aiming to be eventually.  There's not really building or crafting right now though.

EDIT:  And just saw this one today: The War Z

ARMA II: Combined Operations for -40%

Quite possibly as good as it's going to get.  Those of you who wanted it for DayZ, now's your chance.

That account is from the EMERGENCY WAR TAXES. I taxed them from everyone after reclaiming the capital, and declaring that declaring war on me was an emergency worth re-appropriating from the banks over. (After waiting for them to remember their loyalty, of course.)

Which has been funding our wonderful warship research.  Also, the abandoned Cake colonies are now ours.

Well next time I go cross the river ( I live in Sault Ste. Marie, MI) I'll check out the tech shop in the mall I thought I saw some high end computers their last time.
Oh god, don't buy a computer from some shop in a mall. Floor computers are overpriced crap for the most part. Order the parts and build it, it isn't hard, or order one from a reputable site.

What he said.  Just no.

The Witcher 1 & 2 bundle is also on sale from Good Old Games for a slightly better price at 66% off.  Also, if you already own one of the games, you can still get the 66% discount on the other game.  If you own one of the games on another service, I believe GOG has a method of claiming a key on their site as well, which would make you eligible for the full discount on the other game.

There are two pieces of software that you all might find useful, if you aren't using them already.  The first is Hazeron Scouter, which compiles system scan reports, and allows you to search all scanned systems for resource types.

The second is a fix for the broken galaxy viewer, which can be found here.

I had no idea a capella power metal existed.  Van Canto - Hearted (w. Tony Kakko of Sonata Arctica)

Assuming you have a monitor already, you can build a very solid machine for around $600.  Depending on budget, you can easily swing that anywhere in the $500-$800 range.  Updating an older machine depends entirely on how old and what parts are in it already.

Considering that you can conquer a city with nothing but TL1 space transports, glue guns (or high TL rifles and bullets), and enough people or troops to occupy all the flags on city at once, and need only a ship or ships to carry the troop transports or to build a colony in their system to make the troop transports, you're in less trouble than you think. In fact, if you feel like being aggressive, they could be in considerable trouble themselves, if a lot of you are playing in the Kobold Duchy. (Or use alts, or bring troops)

Will fighters and transports landed on top of a ship still make the jump with it, or did those get patched out with the superships?

I did some exploring, and it looks like Kobold Duchy is only two hops away from Randal13, #26 on the rankings.  We're also only 3 hops away from one of their fully populated ringworlds.  We might be in trouble.

There's no point in playing Borderlands alone. The constant bickering with your buddy is what makes it so fun. Especially if they're greedy-as-fuck untrustworthy little bastards who steal all your weapons after promising you get them and-

Sorry, got a bit carried away there. *rages at unseen friend*

I played it solo, and very much enjoyed it anyway, although it's probably a bit of a different experience.  It's definitely worthwhile.

Sounds like a good way for you to get familiar with how war - done well - actually works in Hazeron. You already learned that ships vs laser bases = dead ships. :P

I've played before, I'm well aware.  I'm also well aware that going up against TL32 laser bases with no troops, no shields, and no spammable ships is not a winning proposition.

Uh oh. Was this the revolt you put down while I was trying to join, or do we need a new planet?

Kobold Duchy currently has a moonbase, and a small city on an outer planet; the capitol is hostile and has 3 TL32 laser bases.  I'm wishing I hadn't brought that much tech in...

"Absurd demands"?  I was trying to reconquer the capitol single-handedly.   I'm only a little insane, really.   XD   Sorry about the sudden drop, though, sister showed up in town.

On another tack, I was thinking about starting back up with an empire concept that I've tried once before: The New Order of the Hammer, the spacebound arm of the Hammerite Order of the Thief universe.  For those of you not familiar with Thief, the Hammerites are a group of zealots in service of the Great Builder, dedicated to machinery, opposed to nature, and hating heretics above all else.  The New Order of the Hammer would likely involve lots of building (naturally), cities all over magma planets (forges!), lots of "thees" and "thous", protecting of newbie empires (whose constructions are pleasing to the Builder), and quite possibly smacking of heretics (who threaten said pleasing buildings).

Would anyone else be interested in signing on as a space Hammerite?

Their servers are going up and down, so keep trying.  A lot of really nice package deals, and Deus Ex: Human Revolution is on sale for $7.50 for the next 6 hours.
