It's on the Dev List. I wish more people would read it before posting here...

Yeah, it's planned.

DF Suggestions / Re: new noble - Garbage Collector
« on: November 25, 2007, 05:03:00 pm »
Err... you can already do this with your normal dwarves. It's true! using "i" designate an activity zone for garbage disposal. Then, using "k" begin designating items for dumping.

I mean, a Dwarf may feel content at admiring items and handiwork, or fulfilled, but they should still feel bad about the death.

This is what it all boils down to. Dwarves just don't care enough about the death of their lovers/spouses/friends/children. The bad thought is like a pebble dropped into a sea of complete and utter bliss. Eating in a good dining room (and it is way to easy to get dining room qualities to "Legendary" in my opinion) seems to fix everything. The death of a loved should completely overwhelm all other good thoughts at first (unless the dwarf is used to such things, i.e. "Doesn't care about anything anymore")

Why? To make the game easier? I don't understand why they wouldn't continue to steal crap. (Except for the bug when their own race slaughters them in a siege)

DF Suggestions / Re: Skill idea!

Honestly, I think there is too big of a gap between cutting down trees and actually making idols and crap from them for their to be any advantages. I mean, just because you've been refining steel for your entire life doesn't mean you should be able to sit down in front of an anvil and start churning out short swords.

DF Suggestions / Re: Noble mandates need to make more sense
« on: April 08, 2007, 01:54:00 pm »
I have also thought about this... perhaps making them making less selfish mandates based on only what they like, and mandating things that will actually better your fortress? Like mandating bone bolts and archery targets for your marksdwarves, or requesting an improvement for a dining hall.

Honestly, I think this is too modern, even for dwarves.

Really? I have never heard of anything like this happening. Was your fortress old or wealthy? Large ammount of mining jobs?

Of course, you could be co-oping with a total jerk who permafloods your fort.   :p

I can only imagine how complicated this could be, 'specially with a game like Dwarf Fortress.  Anything is possible, however...

Agreed. The demands can be absolutely ridiculous (if not impossible) to fulfill. And hammerings have a high fatality rate.

I think the dev notes at the bottom are plans from the chapter one game. Some (if not most) will still apply, and I wouldn't be surprised to see if this sort of thing gets added.

DF Suggestions / Re: More realistic water freesing
« on: March 22, 2008, 09:44:00 am »
And another thing: free falling water should not freeze. Ever. I tried draining some accidental flood water into the chasm during winter and it FROZE as soon as it touched the air, leaving a wall of ice connected to the chasm wall.
