The thing is, it doesn't make sense at all that you know your drunk's pinky is lightly bruised when he is on the other side of a pitch black cave.

You hear the sound of flesh tearing to the south.
You hear screams.

Now that makes sense and would add to the adventure mode experience.    :)

The thing is that if you are mining out a big stone wall the rock has to go somewhere- it can't just disappear. Of course, that's more of a realism thing. Gameplay is always more important.  :D

I dunno... painting doesn't seem very dwarven to me. Humans are a different story, however...

There was a suggestion about making books and stuff. That would be nice- being able to have books completely about your fort's history. An adventurer could come along in the abandoned fort and nab the book, read it, sell it, burn it, whatever. Could generate appropriate quests to find books for people in villages and things.

This would just be another way for our dwarves to drop what they are doing and go be unproductive. I really don't want to have a goblin siege destroy my fort because my squad leader decided to take a crap instead of fght.

Yeah. And pressing "-" before you're adventurer is placed in the world will randomly generate another name for him/her.

It's on the dev list. Except the last bit. Which seems kind of... wrong.

Gee Heliopios, what a well thought-out and contributing post. In what way is Eagleon wrong? Really, go ahead. I'm interested, as I'm not very knowledgeable on the subject.

And yeah, a better system for encrusting is desperately needed. Something similar to the stocks screen would be nice. And certain items should not be able to be encrusted. Or maybe they should. Just seems odd to me that you can encrust bolts with priceless gems. But, I digress.

Arnos: It's really not that important to keep the buggers alive. You'll just get new ones in the next migration wave.

Heh, if everything that players wanted to be added in the next release were, we'd be waiting years for it.   :D

EDIT: Oh yeah, traffic designations. Those will be very nice.

Thanks for that witty and predictable response.

Ah, damn. Sorry... I should have actually stated what I meant: This game takes place in a randomly generated world completely different from ours (except for the awesome realistic geography) with creatures that we don't have. So, why compare it to ours? Dwarves can already create elaborate and deadly traps with a few rocks. They are ingenious creatures, clearly more than humans. While I do believe we should draw the line somewhere, it seems fair to allow them to make yellow glass.

Yes, but 18th century Earth didn't have dwarves.

I'm just worried about it generating random names for the Gods and Goddesses. I don't want my dwarves sacrificing virgins to Askinblah Mucklikur "Twisted Paints the Pregnant-Sweets of Corn."

DF Suggestions / Feasts!
« on: February 25, 2008, 08:42:00 pm »
The player should be able to hold feasts from his dining room. Nobles and legendary dwarves would attend, and the cooks would prepare and serve lavish meals for the event. The more selfish nobles should want feasts occasionally. Dwarves could play instruments and such. Those eating at the feast would scarf down more food than necessary. Mugs of ale should be provided at each table.

The more good things the player provides (entertainment, dining room quality, number of dwarves attending, food variety & quality, etc.) the bigger the happy thought gained from the feasting. A bad feast, however, could give the dwarves a negative thought (especially nobles.)
