As I'm stuck with my old PC as far as online gaming goes, I might reinstall it again.
But not for the game itself, rather for all the great custom maps that are out there.

Anyone wants to play one of those?

Has been a while since I last came across Ed.

Probably because there's not much worth looking up nowadays and because the whole place is cluttered with pornographic images of all sorts.
Only few articles are what I would call a good read and often it's hard to find specific information you're looking for (like the origin of a meme), since they ridicule it trhough and through.

The people from Know Your Meme are doing a much better job IMO, even if they don't cover even a fraction of EDs knowledge.

Well I won't shed a tear if it gets shut down, as the saying goes "Nothing of value was lost".

SNES:
Yoshis Island (great Jump&Rund, many innovative and fun elements, replayed it on my brothers DS recently)
Super Mario World (same here, without the DS part)

N64:
Ocarina of Time/Majoras Mask (very diversified, many extras to find, TIME TRAVEL!)
Star Fox(fun gameplay, great replayability, highscore hunting, lots of memorable quotes)
Yoshis Story (most people hated it, I liked it for its style)
Super Smash Brothers (best beat 'em up ever, spend countless hours playing this with friends)

Is it the one where there races have response fleets.
Because it tried that one and the game slowed down noticeable.
And even if you turn it off, the fellts will stay.

Hmm I turned down the graphics since my last try, so maybe it will work out now.
I'll give it a try.

Well but that would be a passive war.
I'd attack and they only would be waiting to be attacked.

I'd wish there would be more than simple skirmishes between small groups of fighters.
Large scale battles between big ships and their escorts, where you could be either spectator or participant, if you'd choose to.
That's what I'm thinking off.

How do you keep yourself motivated in the long run.

Well its nice to have a great fleet, but what do you actually do with them?
There are not much wars going on in the game.

Life Advice / Re: English language competition, advice needed
« on: February 03, 2010, 05:52:37 am »
Thank you for the advice that far.

Problem is that the english class, with our main english teacher(there's a different one at the optional course), consist mostly of means to keep us occupied.
Despite our school praising itself to put heavy emphasis on english, as it should become our business language, we have many students with lacking linguistic skills, so he's trying to keep is easy, which goes on the expense of the better students.

Well most of the time I can make up for it myself, as I basically read books in eglish, watch movies/series/animes in english, play games in english and when browsing on forums and the net I limit myself to english sites.
As a effect of this, my vocabulary and my written english surpass my speaking ability, which I only get to train during the 2 lessons of the optional course.
I believe its quite good, but it still could be a lot better, if I'd get regular practice.

Still over the last few years students of my schools scored well at these competitions, so I probably shouldn't panic.

Unfortunately I have an issue with speaking in public, as many presentations in my school have already shown, but if I borrow a sedative pill from my mother I should do fine.
I tried it on several occasions before and it makes me as silver-tongued as I could never become without it.

@Zangi:
The red player agreed.
Hell be focusing on wepons technology only, which he is willing to trade with me.
Guess that means we can focus on the other techs.

His expansion will focus on the south, so all I have to worry about is the orange player.

Took last slot... what say you.... B12 Alliance?  I am the Green and looks like you are blue.
I'm researching range first.....  We can exchange tech freely between each other...
If we are... I'd ask you do speed first...  I can do either scanner or weapon next... up to you...

We can eat up orange guy early on.

I'll have some trouble with logistics until I get my tech up a bit...   only way 'out' of my area at this tech level is through orange guy.

Sound great.
I'll do the Speed research first and than start with scanning.
You can get weapons next.

I'm also trying to get an alliance with the red guy, so I can concentrate on orange, and don't have to worry about my back.
Well my first turn was more economic/research, so tell me when you plan on attacking, so I can build up my army.

I'd love to play, but I haven't done such a thing before and I'm not sure if I'm up to it.

Life Advice / English language competition, advice needed
« on: February 02, 2010, 03:00:50 pm »
So my teacher from the optional course "Advanced English" (not exactly what it was called, but the real name sounds stupid) asked me to take part in the national english competition.

What the preselection looks like:

Round 1: Cartoon - talk about the issue adressed in the catoon for 1-2 minutes

Round 2: Discussion (in pairs) - a controversial topic is presented and discussed in pairs (short written or visual impulse) for 7-8 minutes. Best 8 advance.

Round 3: Video or audio-tape from CNN, BBC or FM4. Reproduce the content and give your opinion.
7-8 minutes each. Best 4 advance.

Final Round: Roleplay in pairs in a business-related situation (10 minutes per pair)

Topics:
  • Tourism - economic and social impact, problems, solutions
  • Job World - canges (influence of technology, new working patterns), qualifications and skills, unemployment
  • Global World - working, studying and living aboard, intercultural learning, the global economy
  • The world of teenagers - peer pressure, alcohol, drugs, smoking, media, fashion, music, relationship, trends
  • Education - trends, problems and solutions
  • Computers and Automation
  • Current political issues (migration, social issues, polotical, cultural and religious problems
  • Advertising
  • Business

Any advice how I could prepare myself for it?

We share a lot of similarities.
I too have no talents whatsoever and fail at most things I'm trying.
The only difference is that I can't even program, even though I'm in a school where this is a main subject.

The only thing I might be good at, is writing articels and essays of any sort.
I could probably expand on that once I'm done with school.

No way I could do it now, as it feels like I'm having a mild Burnout Syndrome :/

Edit:
Oh and the English language is a passion of mine.

What's Garena?

A client for a whole lot of different multiplayer games.
Main reason I used it, was that I actually had lagfree games there.
Offers a lot of other functions to enchance your gaming experience.
