I know what your title means to say, but at first I read this as the FB being made of dead dwarves, flame, etc.  It would have been the best FB ever!

I was looking at files on an old thumb drive, and came across one from four years ago.

the Noiseless Odors, a deer leather quiver.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Didn't know snatchers were just plain evil

I had this happen early last year, actually.  Had a mother with babe in arms fend off a goblin who'd come to take the baby.  when the kid grew up, I went to see what kind of skills she had, and I saw "Legendary crutch walker".  Huh?  So I looked at her profile and it said her leg was missing.  I put two and two together and realized that the gobbo had sliced off her little baby leg while trying to snatch her.

I once had a fort where the mayor and the engraver were lovers, and the mayor had a grudge with his lady's best friend.  Said engraver/girlfriend would engrave purring maggots constantly, which the mayor hated.

EDIT: Also, yeah about the avatar, Max :D At first it was just the "tastefully arranged Cage" bit with no supporting image since my dwarves all huddle around their artifact cage for mood radiation and their 'thoughts' screens always mention 'the Cage' :> I only recently took the extra terrifying step and supplied an image to the statement ;)

Terrifying AND clever!  Took me a few to figure it out, then I lol'ed.

Hi! *waves*  You had your firs encounter with 'Losing is Fun'.  May you enjoy many more to come.  Yeah, the dining room thing, live and learn.  Also, when you say they weren't dumping, did you create a garbage dump zone first using "i" then  designating a spot for dumping?

I remember that during my focus on war dogs breeding, they mortally wounded lots of goblins. For some reason engravings of this events depicted exclusively as "The dog is laughing".

The dwarves seem to suffer from some sort of psychopathy at times All the time tbh

The fortress of Heavywires was going through a period of peace, with no sieges and profitable trading with mountainhomes. However the liaison almost always said: "The world is the same as ever". So I decided to poke around in legends mode. At the very end of the world log was the line:
"In the early winter of 59, The Machine of Amber of the Ink of Scars at the settlement of Heavywires regained their senses after a period of questionable judgement"
Ha! How apt a description of a player controlled fortress!

Hhs first time I saw that I was all "Well played, Toady.  Well played!"

Woulden't this be more fitting into the general discussion?

Well, there used to be a similar thread here in this section called "Because of Dwarf Fortress".  It was too old  for me to feel good about necro'ing that thread. I figure if half the forum suddenly tells me me it ought to be moved, then I'll move it.

Sometimes if there's two biomes bordering on each other, when you do that F1 F2  F whatever to select the one you want, it's easier to get caught in the middle, or pick one when you thought you picked the other.  Did you pick a neutral area next to an evil one?  I suppose it's possible for a syndrome cloud to waft your way.

I visited some mountains, and I saw they had iron sticking out of them and I just wondered if they had flux stones to go with it...

I do this, too (I do most of these things, actually).  there's a sculpture (I guess?) made of a huge square chunk of marble in Downtown Denver.  Every time I see it, I think "What a waste of flux!  Damn nobles."  I'd rather keep my town free of magma though :D

A couple of days ago i almost fell from the stairs.
My first thought was:
!Experiencing mortal fear!

Glad you're all right.  But think of it this way: You're hardened now!

I had a dream I was playing DF last night.

Was it fun, or Fun?

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: That wasn't FUN

Sure it was.  Fun isn't always the stuff of Boatmurdered and Syrupleaf, but then, very little is.  Enjoy your Fun for what it is.  Eventually, you will have more epic and entertaining Fun (which is what it seems you mean.  It didn't entertain or amuse you.  I know the feeling).

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / When Dwarf Fortress creeps into your daily life
« on: September 13, 2014, 09:35:18 pm »
I have some cookies here and it says on the container "Cotton Candy Flavored".  I thought, "So this is what that stuff tastes like!"  Also, I told a friend via email about my day as if I were a dwarf in game:  "She ate well recently.  She gets paid soon.  She was disgusted by a miasma on the bus recently.  She started a new job recently.  She talked to stupid people on the phone recently."  Funnier still (to me) someone on the news said something about the President issuing a mandate and I thought "Only a matter of time before he starts demanding slade in the dining room",

Heh.  This game has invaded my life :D

These are awesome.  Especially enjoyed the Hyperbole and a Half reference.

Same here!

I love my achievement badge.  Need to make it my new avatar when I have time.  I've been Interrupted by NewJob lately :D
